I'm seeing Iron Man this weekend. Possibly Thursday @ 8pm if one of my classes is canceled. I'm excited. One of my favorite Marvel Comics characters.

Zaz posted: I don't know why the tone in this thread is getting so adversarial, but anyway: Stop. It.
I just want to make sure that I have this clear, because I don't want to push you any further. If I personally think a film/trailer/whatever sucks, I'm not allowed to say so?
I mean I can see getting mad because a user says something to the effect of another user's opinion sucking, that's obviously a mild flame, but I can't give my personal opinion on the subject that's being discussed?

No. Of course you can say something sucks. Or doesn't. What you can't say is that another poster is a dipwad for disagreeing with you. Nor can you spectulate on why they hold a certain opinion (the word 'retarded' gets thrown around a lot.)
In the words of the immortal Alfred Hitchock: "It's only a moo-vie."
This quote, for instance, is unnecessary:
"Apparently you aren't that good at following conversation threads. Like how another poster was the first one to state that my opinion that BB is a bad movie was a bad opinion, so I responded in kind. Its pays to, ya know, pay attention."
We are all supposed to discuss upcoming films we want to see here. How this thread started debating the qualities of "Hellboy" and "Batman Begins" I have no clue. In any case, I have upped those movies' threads for those who want to continue with it--reasonably politely, please.

Son of Rambow (2008)
90% N/A 75% N/A N/A 90 % Reviews Counted: 20 Fresh: 18 Rotten:2 Average Rating: 7.4/10
Rated: Not Rated
Runtime: 1 hr 35 mins Theatrical Release: May 2, 2008 Limited
Synopsis: "# SON OF RAMBOW # A runaway audience smash at the Sundance Film Festival, SON OF RAMBOW is a hilariously fresh and visually inventive take on friendship, family, film heroes and the death-defying adventures of growing up in the video age. It all begins in 1980s Britain, when young Will Proudfoot, raised in isolation among The Brethren, a puritanical religious sect in which music and TV are strictly forbidden, encounters something beyond his wildest fantasies: a pirated copy of RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD. His virgin viewing of the iconic thriller blows his mind – and rapidly expanding imagination – wide open. Now, Will sets out to join forces with the seemingly diabolical school bully, Lee Carter, to make their own action epic, devising wildly creative, on-the-fly stunts, not to mention equally elaborate schemes for creating a movie of total commitment and non-stop thrills while hiding out from The Brethren. But when school popularity finally descends on Will and Lee in the form of, oui, the super-cool French exchange student, Didier Revol, their remarkable new friendship and precious film are pushed, quite literally, to the breaking point . . . Filmed in a creatively mad-cap, homemade style with a mostly amateur cast and a wry, comic-tinged nostalgia, creative visionaries Garth Jennings and Nick Goldsmith, AKA Hammer & Tongs (HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY), manage to capture both the agony and the giddy ecstasy of a camcorder childhood with humor, poignancy and a rousing dose of cinematic panache."
Genre: Comedies
Starring: Will Poulter, Bill Milner, Jules Sitruck, Charlie Thrift, Jessica Stevenson
Director: Garth Jennings
Screenwriter: Garth Jennings
Producer: Nick Goldsmith
Composer: Joby Talbot
Poster: Great
Pro: Sounds funny

The description didn't really do it for me, but then I noticed Mamet was behind it. Zaz and I are apparently on different ends of the sidewalk; I tend to enjoy Mamet's schtick.

The last three films -- Redbelt, Son of Rambow and Fugitive Pieces -- all sound very intriguing to my mind, for one reason or another. Redbelt for a chance to see Ejiofor in a lead role, and for the martial arts subject matter, which I also find compelling; Son of Rambow for the comical and creative possibilities; and Fugitive Pieces for the emotionally heavy quality inherent the material.
