Prince Caspian looks a lot more adapted than TLTWATW was. I don't remember an assault on a castle in the book.

The reviews are good so far, however.

The2ndQuest posted: I'm hoping this one can fulfill the promise of the first movie, which wasn't bad, but felt like we had gotten an edited-for-tv version. An extra 15 minutes expanding on the supporting characters more would have done wonders for TLTW&TW.
Theres an extended DVD of it.

I really don't care what the critics or the internet fanboys say, I'm seeing it just cause it's Indy, I grew up watching it, saw temple of doom and Last crusade in the theaters. As long as it's an Indy film that's all I care about and from what it looks and some of the reviews I'm reading it is. As long as it's better than Temple of Doom, that really is the one Indy film that's not great too me. Then again, it could be, that I saw it in the theaters when I was 6 and the eyeball soup and heart scene scarred me for life.

I saw it already, and i enjoyed it! for me, it's 9/10.
It was what i was hoping for: a fun Indy movie, with lots of action, over the top Indy moments and humor
So needless to say, i recommend it... ignore the critics and the bashers, and just go have fun with this one

People are always dissing Temple of Doom. There's parts of that film I really enjoy.

I think that TCS is better than ToD, but it falls short of RotLA and TLC.
The film actually works best when Indy isn't adventuring in an active way on screen. For example, he gets Mutt to get them out of one problem early on with a suggestion that turns into a neat little brawl. Later on, there's a truck scene that plays homage to the truck scene in RotLA where we don't really see what Indy's doing, just the results, and it works beautifully. There's another fight relatively early on at a tomb where Indy turns the tables without use of his fists (it's right before the lines from the trailer "You're a teacher?" "Part time!"). When Indy is playing as older, wiser and cannier and we see Ford rather than a stunt double, the film works. When CG and wirework take over, things get terrible.
Like ToD, it's a couple of great scenes held in place by a couple of weak scenes. 7/10; I'll get it on DVD but won't see it again in theatres.

Saw it this morning down here in Aussie land. I'm a long time, die hard Indy fan and was a little against this movie because i was afraid it would 'soil' the other classics ala the prequals. I may have to see it again to make my mind up completly.
Spoilers may be below for some.....
(i'm not going to bash, just the good and bad points in my eyes)

The good:
The score- John.W at his best. Some of the cues from the other films are great.
Karren Allen- When she comes into it the film really feels like an indy film.
Shia- He is a standout.
Harrison ford- He's still got it...!most of the time!
The truck/jeep/duck case- apart from suspending disbeilf, which you have to in most indy films, its a great action piece.
"Grave robbing in Peru"- Pure indy moments crawing around in cobwebs.
The collage- Excatlly how we left it
The little tie-in moments to the other films.
The Bad:
The second half of the opening fight/chase sequence...not needed at all and very un-indy.
The sci/fi part of it- just felt off, wierd.
Some of the dialogue- Hmmmmmm.
The Russians plot- didn't feel as threating as others could have been.
Like i said, i may have to see it again but thats my feelings at the moment.

I absolutely loved it, and/but I'm not a huge fan of the other Indiana Jones movies. The borderline-scifi plot actually works for me, simply because that sort of idea is as ingrained in our culture as any of the other secrets Indy has chased before. Simply swap aliens in for gods and there you go - there's not really much of a difference. Harrison's as good as always, and Shia actually looked like a convincing successor.
BTW, was anybody else really excited to see a return to the warehouse we get a glimpse of at the end of the first film?

seeing it in a few hours, cant' wait. And I don't hate Temple of Doom, there are parts I really like, the mine chase and the stuff on the bridge, but Kate Capshaw nearly killed it for me.

Temple of Doom is I think the worst Steven Spielberg film. It makes 1941 look good. Temple of Doom is unintentionally comic in all the places it's supposed to be serious and utterly humorless in all the places where it shoots for comic relief.

I love ToD. This film definitely feels along those lines, so people who don't like ToD probably won't like this film. There were parts of this film I was disappointed in, mainly in the end. But there was also a lot, lot of stuff I loved. Everyone head to the LFL/Indy IV board for discussion
