Hmm, I find it interesting that there was no thread on the greatest television show ever made. Dunno if there are any other fans around, but discuss any of the three series, as Trial By Jury was cancelled this spring.
--I'll kick off the discussion, new season kicks off at the end of the month, with Detective Green returning to the force after being shot, he and Fontana join ADA Borgia and my boy, ADA Jack McCoy, returning after speculation that he would leave the show.
--On Criminal Intent, Briscoe's old partner, Mike Logan (Chris Noth) will be joining the squad, as well.
Hope some of you are looking forward to the new season!

I love SVU. It's probably my favorite show on television right now.

I used to be a huge SVU fan but I didnt watch it much last season. Personally I found the storylines to be extremely predictable, and most times I was able to figure out who the killer or perp was within the first ten minutes of each new episode.
I think that I will try and catch CI this season, though. Im intrigued to see what Chris Noth's return to the franchise will bring.

While each of the series have had moments of genius, I think Criminal Intent is far and above the best of them all, thanks to Vincent D'Onofrio's fantastic lead performance. Apparently he's cutting back to just half the episodes next season, balancing with Noth. That doesn't strike me as a particularly good thing.

I think Goren (D'Onofrio)is awfully good in the interregation quarters, I'd say the only ones better are Detectives Curtis (Ben Bratt, from a few seasons ago) and most definitely the best, Stabler from SVU.
CI has its good episodes, and I watch it on NBC, Sunday nights, sometimes, but the odd storylines and lack of drama in comparison to the orignal kind of turns me off, in the same way SVU does. Jack McCoy is the best character on any of the series for a reason, and that is because the courtroom drama that SVU dabbles in and CI sees once in a blue moon is half of the greatness of the series.

The only one I got into was SVU, mostly because I like seeing Stabler on the verge of exploding and blowing some child molester's head off.

I agree. Criminal Intent is easily the best. I actually prefer the spin-offs to the original show.

See I can't stand D'Onofrio. Something about that guy drives me nuts and I won't watch CI because of it. It'a nice to see that Chris Noth has a bigger role. I think hes wonderful and extrememly underreated.

Actually, I'm looking forward to seeing what Chris Noth manages to do in the show. I got bored Criminal Intent towards the end of the first season mainly because it was too much Vincent d'Onofrio and not enough of the support cast. The other Law and Order series manage to spin a web that makes the ensemble the lead rather than any one character.

Noth will do great alone, I'm sure, but I'll miss having Logan and Lenny together, I hear a rumor that the original will have a funeral for Orbach's character, Briscoe, on the show, where a bunch of old friends like Logan, Stabler, and Cragen will join with other older characters, and of course McCoy and Green, to say goodbye to the fictional character.

Well, season premiere of L&O tonight, looks pretty intense.
Next week we get a 2-part L&O/SVU crossover with Estella Warren, a model, playing the perp. Looks like it'll be very good.
Great premiere of SVU last night--anyone catch it?

There was mention of Vincent D'Onofrio in EW, saying he chewed the scenery to paste, and was so dominant, his police partner was barely there. So maybe Noth will be a nice rest. I haven't seen this version, so I thought I'd look for it.

I love Law and Order: Criminal Intent. It's my favorite of the three, I like the original and dislike SVU. I've never missed an episode of CI and that's because of Vincent D'Onofrio. He's absolutely brilliant and is easly the shows biggest strength although the supporting cast is excellent, although Courtney B. Vance as A.D.A Carver is underused.
When I heard about Vincent D'Onofrio suffering fainting spells and having to be hospitalized last season I was worried he was going to leave the show. When it was decided he would split the episodes with Chris Noth I was concerned that the show would jump the shark but atleast D'Onofrio would be there half the time.
Now that were into the season the rotating casts is excellent and IMO works extremely well. It worked so good I was hoping they would feature a case involving both teams and surprise, surprise they did just that last week in a special 2 hour episode, that was one of the best I've ever seen. It was truly reiviting with guest star Colm Meaney delivering a terriffic performance as one of their best villians. His showdowns with D'Onofrio were just electric.
I hope they do another episode like this in May.

In 1977 George Lucas created the Star Wars Trilogy and changed the way we look at movies. In 1999 George Lucas created the Prequel Trilogy and changed the way we look at Star Wars. Frasier, Lost, and Whose Line Is It Anyway? are the best tv shows ever.

I'm watching CI right. What's up with Goren dancing around? That was great.
I keep missing the Logan episodes. I've only been catching Goren repeats. I'd like to see that team-up.
