I think the title of first to be cancelled is going to go to "Happy Hour," which seems to have been placed on "hiatus" by the network.... never a good sign.

According to brilliantbutcancelled.com:
"Fox pulled it from the schedule “temporarily.” We say it's in a persistent vegetatitve state and won't see '07.
“Happy Hour,” while not officially cancelled by Fox, is off the schedule. And while FOX insists the show is not cancelled—it's definitely on life support. So… stay tuned and congratulations if you voted for this first casualty of the Fall ‘06 Season.'

Ya, it never had a fighting chance.

Yea, Id read about that. I also heard that Justice probably wont last too much longer, regardless of the fact that Fox ordered a few more episodes. The future isnt looking too bright for Vanished, either.

Looks like Heroes is the first show to get a full season pick up. Click here for more.

Also, I just read over at tvguide.com that Smith has been sidelined 'until further notice'.

Good to see Heroes getting picked up on the back nine. Defiantly been one of my favorites of the new season.

Can't say I'm surprised about Smith. Seems like the last few caper series have not done so hot.

Edit: Over at Zap2it they're giving Smith the honor of being first pulled as 'Happy Hour' apparently still has a home on a recent Nov. schedule announced by Fox.

Even though you make a good point about recent caper shows not doing well Im still kind of surprised that Smith flatlined so quickly, if only because of its above average cast, especially Ray Liotta. Unfortunately these days new shows get the axe much quicker than they did in past seasons since the ratings wars are so competitive so its understadable that CBS would want to cut their losses early if the show isnt showing any signs of life.

So far I'm watching and intrigued by:

Jericho: Seems good and has a good cast, and it's mystery elements are diverging it from the Alas, Babylon origin that it seemed based on in the beginning.

Heroes: So far this engages me the most (first episode made me miss the first hour of WWE RAW). Intriguing storylines and the actors are rock solid as they give us glimpses into the lives of these characters finding themselves with sudden, sometimes frightening ablities (Like the woman who's mirror image killed the two loan sharks after her). First series since Buffy to keep me this interested in coming back week after week. We shall see if the writers and actors can keep that up.

I liked both the pilots, but haven't watched further, mainly because I keep forgetting the time slots...

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it wasn't really a cheap show either. Its one thing to put up less then stellar numbers early one when the show is made on a shoe string budget quite another when you are putting that kind of money into it. It was kind of doomed right off the bat.

Very true. Budget restraints definitely play a huge part on whether or not a new show will be given time to sink or swim.

Doesnt look like The Nine is faring too well. Its already lost 3.5 million viewers from last week's premiere, and 2 million jumped ship halfway into last night's episode (it averaged 8.4 mil last night). At this rate Id be surprised if it made it through November sweeps.

Ah, well, at least if it is cancelled Kim Raver wont lack for work since she was already scheduled to recur on 24 next season anyway.

I gotta be honest, I'm already disappointed with The Nine. Last night they showed less than 2 minutes from the 52 hours. They aren't going to be able to keep viewers like that.

I'm still liking it. Hopefully it'll settle on an audiance.

You may be among the majority. "30 Rock" has some possibilities, I suppose; but I doubt it.
