The next hit TV Series?

RE: The next hit TV Series?
I guess the days of good sitcoms like Seinfeld, Frasier, Friends, Wings, Cheers, and Everybody Loves Raymond are over. The only sitcom that I watch now is Two and a Half Men. It's not the greatest show, but the best sitcom on TV these days. The only drama series that I watch is Smallville. I hate reality TV and never watched any of them. Reality TV ruined television.

Sitcoms are nearly dead: I think "Everybody Hates Chris" was the only new one this season.

Even though they arent new, both Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development are far and away the best sitcoms on TV, IMO, precisely because they arent like the traditional sitcoms like Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Joey, etc. Even an average episode of these shows are better than anything the other ones I mentioned can put out in a whole season.
But then again, that's precisely why AD is ratings flop. Personally I think that its simply too smart for the average dumbass who sits through endless showings of crappy sitcoms like According to Jim and Yes, Dear, but hey, that's me.

I've tried AD, and simply can't follow what's going on.

Admittedly it is kind of a tough show to follow if you havent been watching from the beginning because of all of the subtleties and in-jokes.

I like The War at Home and Starved. Other than that, I mostly watch long-running programmes like The Simpsons and King of the Hill. Or whatever's on PBS that piques my interest.

In the October 7th, 2005, edition of EW, they listed the following series as 'endangered':
"Kitchen Confidential"
"Just Legal"
"Inconceivable"
"Out of Practice"

Isn't this a second shot for Freddie? I could of sworn that FPJ had a series before. Maybe it was just a bad, bad dream.
I'd agree with the "endangered list". I only even recognize kitchen confidential. Lots of talent in that one, to bad it isn't good.

From what Ive been reading, Kitchen Confidential is just about a lock for cancellation and may not even air again. Unfortunately - at least for its small but loyal fanbase - the same can be said for Arrested Development, although Fox will most likely air their last eight episodes or so.

I haven't heard anyone talk much about Out of Practice. It seems to be a sleeper hit. No one seems to be talking about it but it's doing well in ratings (one of the top comedies the last 5 weeks, I think). The first episode was mediocre, but by the second episode the cast had quickly gotten used to each other and quit being quite so stiff. Sure, it's a generic sitcom. But I'll take a generic sitcom over a reality TV clone any day of the week. That and My Name Is Earl are my favorite new shows. I could do without all of the others.

It's about a family of mostly doctors and a marriage counselor. It's just the usual fare, I mean, it's not groundbreaking, but it's good for a lot of laughs. It's like Frasier but not quite as snob-nosed sophisticated. Basically it's just a close-knit family of divorcees, a womanizer, and a lesbian in shenanigans. I didn't make it sound good, I'm sure, but when you think about it, the best sitcoms are the simple ones.

I don't think that I've heard of it.
I just picked up the SciFi magazine- they had the three shows that i've been keeping my eyes on- Supernatural, Surface and Threshold with some info that it had coming up.
