So in the end there's nothing you can do.

John Williams: The Adventures of Tintin

19 February 2009 8:10 AM, PST | From Upcoming Film Scores | See recent Upcoming Film Scores news

"Veteran composer John Williams is doing the score for The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, Steven Spielberg's and Peter Jackson's first film based on the classic Hergé comic books. The assignment has been confirmed by Williams' agent, the Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency, and will have fans expecting another classic film theme from the composer of such orchestral hits as the Indiana Jones theme, Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter. Jamie Bell is doing the part as Tintin, and other cast members will include Daniel Craig and Andy Serkis. According to news reports, Peter Jackson is going to direct the sequel. A trilogy of films are planned, with the first one coming out in 2011. 77-year old Williams' latest score was last year's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - his 24th (!) feature with Steven Spielberg."

2011??? shock That's seems like a very long time away. I know these films are technically complex and take awhile, but that's a bit of a shocker for me. If it was pure animation, I could understand. But mo cap?

Who's Mackenzie Crook playing? He's hilarious.

God, I hope this movie rocks; but it seems early to be hotly anticipating the movie if it won't be here till Christmas '11. Fatigue will doubtless have set in by then. Hopefully, the movie will be great enough to overcome.

It seems fairly close to a similar release that Lord of the Rings had - are all three films being filmed concurrently?

Apparently the movie will be released on late October/early November in Europe. I don't think I've seen an American movie released this early in Europe before America... must be a new record. tongue

On Comingsoon.net, they say Spielberg has finished the first movie, and that Jackson is considering Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun for the second one:

These guys definitely know what the quality material is. Secret of the Unicorn is my favorite and easily the funniest; Seven Crystal Balls is easily the scariest of the series. Jackson could really kill it with that Rascar Capac/old country house/thunderstorm sequence.
