Very good episode last night, as they seem to be setting up alot of tension. I loved how they are showing the growth of Margene. I loved how they showed Margene's Catholic roots by her reaction to Nikki throwing out the rosary beads. Then Margene defending Catholicism to Nikki, and her praying to find Wayne. Also interesting was that it was Margene who found Wayne after she prayed.

It was also nice to see Marge discovering Bill's secret and her investigation of Ana.

I also like the Joey storyline. Who have to feel bad for him as he seems to be the victim of his past vices and truely in love with Wanda.

And after the past few episodes, kind of strange to see Barb being the one to defend the Principle,

I LOVED Nicki's reaction to the basic tenants of catholicism. "Why would you want to believe that?" It was great since if Nicki told the teacher the basic tenants of the UEB faith, the teacher would have the same (or a much more adverse and confused) reaction.

edit: I posted the message about 40 words too soon.

edit II: I wonder why exactly Margie went to check out Ana. Is she jealous, or is she interested in being the first one to form an opinion on a potential 4th wife as a way to reclaim some of her own self-esteem that was lost over the family's split vote when she was brought into the family?

I think she liked the fact that she was the first to know Bill's secret, and wanted to do her own research

I agree. She seemed more surprised than angry when she saw Bill talking to the waitress, and she seemed downright calm after meeting her herself. It will be interesting to see how everyone reacts to a potential fourth wife, especially the potential wife herself.

I really hope we are not done with Ana. I think bringing her into the family at this point would be a mistake; but, if she was a reoccurring character who was always sort of on the verge of being brought into the fold, it would make for an interesting dynamic outside of what has already been established on the show. She is played by a top tier Serbian actress Branka Katic (bio: http://www.hbo.com/biglove/cast/actor/branka_katic.html ). That makes me think she'll be around more.

I'm also really happy with the material Ginnifer Goodwin has been given to work with this season. Last year, even with fairly light material (save for The Baptism) she was my favorite character because she wasn't even a Mormon and didn't seem to get what being a sister-wife meant. This season she seems to get it, and embrace it, and it's allowed her to have so many good dramatic moments this season. I really felt what the pain and confusion she felt when Bill told her not to mistake lust for the Holy Spirit.

Finally, I want to know more about Hollis Green and his polygamous sect. They really seem more dangerous than Roman and his UEB muscle. Roman's has done a lot of bad stuff, but he never used violence in such a preemptive manner.

Last night's episode was great on so many levels. Ginnifer Goodwin was utterly brilliant, and I think Im falling in love with Margie more and more each week. love My heart broke to see her so crushed over Bill's decision at the end of the episode. Finally she met a woman who she really and truly connected with, a potential new sister wife, only to have Bill veto it at the last moment. I also hope that Ana will be back, because I think that there is opportunity for tons of interesting storylines here.

Im also loving this new underground polygamist sect. Cant wait to see old Roman and this new guy butt heads. We may just see a possible alliance between Roman and Bill as a result, too.

God, I cant stand her...

Also, it'll be interesting to see where Bill's father is going to fit into all of this. I was wondering when he'd show up this season.

Once again, Ginnifer Goodwin was great last night. She's really coming into her own, acting-wise, this season. She really made me appreciate how bad it was for Margie to grow up with a mom like that.

I thought the compound storyline was good last night as well. Man, I knew Bill's father was an *******, but I didn't know he was quite so evil. I thought the scene in Lois' house where the power went out veered a little too close to horror movie territory, but I certainly felt a sense of dread which was the intention, I guess.

I'll tell ya, between last night's episode and the previews for next weeks episode, it certainly seems like Big Love is slowly drifting toward a Sopranos level of danger and drama, which would definitely not be a bad thing. Hollis Green is one scary villain. He's even scarier than Roman because we know less about him right now. I really can't wait to see next week's episode.

What is the deal with Hollis Green's wife (or wives)? She seems (or they seem) to be very masculine. I know the only one we've officially met Selma, but there was that other person who tried to pants Bill so Selma could brand him. I assumed at the time that person was a man, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure that person wasn't another one of Hollis' wives. I just have to say, "Ick!."

I'm glad it got picked up for another season. I sort of expected HBO's change in leadership to mean out with the old (good stuff) and in with the new (crap).

Selma is a he, check the hbo episode guide

Ginnifer Goodwin has been delivering big time this season. How she was accusing Nikki of stealing her mom. Her bonding with her mom, before her mother finds out.
