You're not my ex-husband, are you?

Well, that's pretty rude of them.

So, is anyone familiar with Handel's Messiah?

In terms of the choir, London Philharmonic. In terms of the soloists, Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Handel's Messiah is one of the very few classical works I've managed to see performed live three times. Always an awesome experience.

When I moved to Boston, I found that our church did an annual community sing of the Handel's Messiah with a full orchestra, soloists and with the audience providing the chorus. 3 years later, when I was 12, my mom got the 2nd violin part for me and I started playing it in the orchestra. I did it until I graduated from high school and even when I switched to viola at 16. It's a magnificent work with so many varieties and styles of music.

I love the Messiah! I am not playing in it this year. The community orchestra I play with does a few pieces from it every christmas. It has become one of my ulitmate feel good things to put on.

I've sung the Messiah three times, once formally and two at sing-ins. My school had a deal with the Pittsburgh symphony where they would do a concert on our campus with our choir, and then we would do the same thing at Heinz Hall with them. Pretty awesome experience each time. One year we did the Messiah. The other two times was with our regular orchestra. It's one of my favorite holiday albums to throw on.

Very good. The soloists were high-quality and the audience had fun.

To add variety, my school choir is performing Bach's Magnificat, which is magnificent, of course.

My favorite choral work is Vivaldi's Gloria. Wonderful stuff there, and great alto solos.

Besides Handel's "Messiah" what classical music is specifically Christmas-oriented?
