Yup. Victoria's Birthday. Since she was Queen 61 years, we got used to a nice May long weekend with fireworks. When she died, nobody wanted to give the sucker up. So we still celebrate it, even though she's been dead 105 years. Go figure.

Ah, okay. Yeah, it is a major debating point in Australia, although has become less of one as the current PM is adamently monarchist. But I imagine we will become a republic within 10 years or so.

a. they don't live here; and

Yeah, but Australia has been steadily distancing itself from the UK since the 70s. Check out "Gallipoli" and "Breaker Morant" for filmic explorations.
