Is she allergic to the almonds themselves or just the pesticides? If the latter, you can take the skin off pretty easily by soaking them and then just "popping" the inside out of the skin.

i can report back that no, almonds are only a problem because he hates their taste!!!! he's been tricking me with that *shakes fist*

walnuts and hazelnuts, i think.

and this is what pine nuts look like

i like them because they are mild and very soft so not a pain in the arse to chop or do stuff with, but it's true they are one of the more expensive varieties.

How bizarre. I thought they'd be a lot smaller.

dunno. you're gonna have to try if you like it. whatever nuts will only be for flavour and texture, they don't have any bearing on the baking.

the job was temporary (still, i get paid and all) and i did some market research, which i would have enjoyed more had there been less cold with me.

york is wonderful and twee, medieval and very english. i think the history goes back a long while (they have a viking festival every year). there is a part of york that is so awesome called the shambles and this link will only give you a vague idea i think. i wouldn't want to live there but i sure like visiting.

Every time I think of York, I think of the sacking of the city by the Scots in Braveheart, in particular Longshanks getting the guys head in a basket. Did they preserve the head and put it on display in the city?
