So have we left the Gothic cathedrals now or?

Anyway, this one's looking fine too.

Next: Caernarfon Castle

Architect: Master James of St. George

Location: Caernarfon, Gwynedd, Wales

Style/Period: Medieval

Built by Edward I to help subdue the Welsh--there were a series of them, but this one was also designed as a propaganda weapon. Because there was a rumour that Constantine the Great was born in Caernarfon, the castle was built with Byzantine stylistic features...the banded masonry and the hexagonal towers.

I think you need to include the year of the initial building construction, we're still in the 13th century while the Gothic style lasted until the 16th century I believe?

Next: The Leaning Tower of Pisa

Architect: Unknown

Completed: 1350

Location: Piazza del Duomo, Pisa, Italy

Style/Period: Romanesque

A cylindrical campanile, or bell tower, is part of a trio of ecclesiastical structures built as a group, the others being the cathedral itself and a circular baptistery. The tower was last built, and even when it was built, it was leaning, as a result of shallow foundations and shifting subsoil. They stabilized the lean and completed it.

It's a haven for illegal immigrants and the Mafia. As soon as we stepped off the bus we were surrounded by about 20 people trying to sell us fake watches and other assorted rubbish, who followed us all the way to the tower. Around the tower itself is a 'market' which is really only several hundred of the same types accosting every tourist repeatedly. Our tour guide stated that it was better than usual because it was raining.

Pisa's heyday was 800 years ago. I seem to remember hearing that the town's population has barely changed since then...

Next: Siena Cathedral

Architect: Unknown

Completed: 1380

Location: Piazza del Duomo, Siena, Italy

Style/Period: Italian Gothic

The black and white campanile (bell-tower) of Siena's Duomo (cathedral) has dominated the skyline of this Tuscan city since medieval times. The nave is also notable both for its length and the hexagonal crossing beneath the central dome. Inside is a treasure house of art.

I frankly don't like this very much. Don't like the black and white horizontal stripes, inside or outside. I particularly don't like that damn bell-tower, it looks awkward.

1. French Gothic
2. English Gothic
3. Italian Gothic

I tend to agree with you, though the Florence Duomo is a similar style and I like that one very much.

the stripeyness is ok. i like colours inside of churches. it reminds me of westminster cathedral (not to be confused with westminster abbey)

but the dome and then the spire just look weird.
