Showtime is coming out with a dramatic series, Dexter, thats shown from the p.o.v. of a serial killer. He's the main character. This is beyond intriguing and is, IMO, a watershed television event for so many different reasons.

They better have first class writers for this, because otherwise, it won't work.

Given the vast improvement in writing for Showtime in the last two years Ive no doubt it'll be well written.

At first, I thought this thread would be about a boy genius.

Thats kinda of the red herring pretense in the shows advertizing believe it or not, as it seems there attempting to put a light hearted vein in the character of the serial killer, making him likable against all odds. We've seen serial killers as anti-heroes before, but I think this will be different. It seems there taking there cue from the grossly underrated Minus Man, which portrays the serial killer as a pretty much normal guy , which if your read any serial killer non-fiction, is what the m.o. is for alot of these murderers - making them that much more horrifying. For the most part there not the stereotyped stranger passing through - there your next door neighbor, charasmatic and intelligent, and completely likable on the surface.

I finished reading the book that the series is based on - " Darkly Dreaming Dexter ". Its about a forensic pathologist that becomes a serial killer of serial killers. Your gonna hear loud bitching by advocate groups on this one. Showtimes gonna have to play it at 1:00 AM.

This reminds me of my early childhood where any cat and dog on the block was not safe within a 350yard radius of my house

Frankly it was fantastic. The way its filmed, too, and not just the interesting angle of the story.

Wish I got Showtime.
Wish they'd kept the book title, too.
