I like the lyrics of this song, but it's a rather ordinary honk-tonk tune.

I completely gave up on country music at least 20 years. Even before that I only listened to it because my dad had control of the radio. When the list starts getting into some classic Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys, and Kenny Rogers, I'll check back in. tongue

#99 - "Back in the Saddle Again" by Gene Autry

A pretty popular song even today, it is one that is still recognized as Autry's most known.

The double entendre keeps it alive, I think. Autrey also sang a couple of enduring Christmas songs--there's something straightforward and appealing in the way he sings. Never seen any of his movies, though.

It harks to a simpler time, I guess. But it's the melody that keeps it alive; really gets in your head.

Lyrics, not so much.

#98 - "Faded Love" by Bob Wills

I haven't really heard this song before. Wills was known for his "swing" style of country music.

Wills is cool; western swing was his style. They once refused to let him play on the Grand Ole Opry because he had a drum set, which, to their minds made him 'not country.'

Definitely he needs to be on the list at least once; I'm trying to remember this song and can't though . . .

#97 - "Amazed" by Lonestar

This song off of their third album Lonely Grill flew to the top of the charts and stayed there for eight weeks in 1999, breaking records and catapulting the band to crossover stardom. "Amazed" also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the same week.

"Amazed" is what it is . . . a country power ballad. (Does country have power ballads or are love songs from country artists just considered love songs?) I have no qualms with the song one way or another. I like a sappy song once in a while. I've been to two weddings where this song was the "first dance" song which was actually a refreshing change from "I Swear."

You haven't heard this one? Have you been to any weddings in the last 7 years? It gets played at just about every one I've been to, and it's one of the most annoying sappy love songs ever recorded. The warning label on the CD isn't for explicit lyrics, but that diabetics should beware of the excess saccharine.

It's a terrible song, and my gf and I refuse to let anyone play it at our wedding.

I live in Canada. You very seldom hear country songs at local weddings. Bagpipe music, yes.

"Amazed" was my junior prom song. I'm not a fan of country, but this is a decent song.
