9-9:30PM Fox, TV-14-DLSV Family Guy B

"The title of Family Guy's 100th (popular birthday!0 is ''Stewie Kills Lois.'' And wouldn't you know it, the little matricidal brat actually succeeds in machine-gunning his clueless mother and dumping her body into the ocean. What follows is a mix of spot-on comedy (after the hit, Stewie cries for Mommy, then realizes, ''Oh yeah, that's right'') and tossed-off gags that don't even bother to aim high (another Rosie O'Donnell joke?). By the end, Peter's a suspect, Brian's onto the real killer, and we're left waiting for this two-parter to tie up loose plotlines next week."

8-9PM CBS
SEASON PREMIERE

"The Amazing Race 12"

"Viva Laughlin is out, Race is in. Out of curiosity, what was it about Melanie Griffith singing karaoke that you didn't like?"

For those who get E! Channel:

"Dress My Nest"

"Queer Eye guy Thom Filicia just wants your world to be as pretty as his is. But y'know, on your budget."

"October Road" B-

"While he's away helping a cuckolded friend, Nick's (Bryan Greenberg) family decorates his room. Then they change it back. Then Nick wants to rearrange it again. It's that kind of inertial cha-cha that makes October Road so frustrating. Think folks are over the enmity stirred up by Nick's book about his hometown? Nope. Any progress with the love of his life (Laura Prepon)? Think again. At least we can enjoy the budding romance between the town lothario (Geoff Stults) and a sweet barmaid (Rebecca Field). But we need more if we're to go down this Road again."

9:30-10PM ABC, TV-PG-DS SEASON PREMIERE

"Notes From the Underbelly" B-

"The genial sitcom returns for its second season but not much has changed. Andrew (Peter Cambor) and Lauren (Jennifer Westfeldt) are still dealing with their impending first child, and Cooper (Rachael Harris) still delivers deliciously bitchy lines. “Underbelly” has always been more amusing than laugh-out-loud funny, which is certainly true of this underwhelming premiere. But the ensemble cast, especially Harris, is easy to like. Here’s hoping future episodes of this pregnancy comedy focus more on delivering laughs.—Tim Stack"

Returns? Never *heard* of it.

8-9PMABC, TV-G
Season Premiere

"Wife Swap"

"In this showdown of vanity vs. feminism, a mother who puts her daughter in beauty pageants swaps with a mother who puts her daughters in large, bulky sweaters."

I was forced to watch this show once. It wasn't as awful as it sounds.

9-10PMABC, TV-PG
Season Premiere

"Supernanny"

"Grandma Mimi calls her three rambunctious grandchildren ''her heart.'' Can Supernanny save Grams before the kids give her a coronary?"

Need some advice on how to whip the evil little munchkins into shape? This is a good place.

9-11PMNBC, TV-14

Season Premiere

"Law & Order"

"With Jeremy Sisto and Linus Roache joining the squad, NBC promos are touting the 18th season as: ''New cast. All new law. All new order.'' I would have settled for an all new sound effect. Thunk thunk."

Yet another new cast.

Season Premiere

"Celebrity Apprentice"

"The Donald isn't looking to hire this season. Instead, he's pitting 14 ''celebrities'' against each other to win money for their favorite charities. Contestants include Tito Oritz, Jennie Finch, Nadia Comaneci, Nely Galan, and a slew of other people I've never heard of before. I suppose all ten Omarosa fans will remember her from season 1. And Stephen Baldwin enthusiasts will hazily recall his performance in, uh, Half Baked"

The only way I'd watch this is if Will Ferrell was playing Trump, and Darrell Hammond was playing Sean Connery. tongue

8-9PM Sci-Fi

Season Premiere

"Flash Gordon"

"It's a reimagined classic. Just not remotely as good as you reimagined it would be."

8-9PM NBC, TV-14

Season Premiere

1 vs. 100

"Answering the questions is easier than explaining the rules. Bottom line: 1 vs. 100 isn't very intellectual or suspenseful, but it's refreshing to see a game-show host (Bob Saget) who looks just as bored with the proceedings as I am."

9-10PM HBO, TV-MA Season Premiere

The Wire

"In the series fifth and final season, ''a new day is not dawning.'' The police department is underfunded, The Baltimore Sun is understaffed, crime rates are on the rise, and the drug trade business is booming. It’s not too late to check out the last chapter of this critically acclaimed series."

For those lucky people with HBO...

8-10PM The CW
Season Premiere
"One Tree Hill"

"I know that college goes by fast, but normally it lasts longer than a few months. The kids of One Tree Hill managed to circumvent the whole high school to college transition (and ratings killer) by flash-forwarding four years. Well, according to the episode title, its been four years, six months, and two days (I guess that's for all you die-hard nitpicky fans with your calendar timelines, trying to determine if Nathan's birthday will fall on a Friday.)"

No clue if this is any good; never seen it.

"30 Rock"

"30 Rock will have a very special guest star. It's like, oh I don't know, the best thing that ever happened to me. This episode? It's a better than good time. Guess what I'm doin' a few hours after the show airs? I'm taking a midnight train to Georgia, that's what. Should I keep going? I get the feeling neither one of us wants to be the first to say goodbye…"

I have decided to start watching this show, so here goes...

"Monk"

"I could say that every other week seems like a premiere, finale, or special episode of this show, but it's new programming, so I'm just going to shut up."

I really enjoy both Monk and Psych. The latter had the better of the two premieres tonight IMHO. Cults are just very hard to portray without cheese, and I think that's where Monk was weak.
