Hmm, that's certainly interesting, if only because of all of the violence and heavy profanity. With all of the edits that would be necassary for basic cable Im surprised that they'd even bother with it. Same thing goes for The Wire and any other cable outlet looking to pick it up.

DVader316 posted: Doesnt look like it, dude. Once again I think you and I are the lone voices of support for The Wire in this forum.
Anyway, just saw Episode 47 On Demand and I really liked it, and it looks like things are really going to start coming to a head next week as far as the bodies in the rowhouses go. Looks like Chris may finally have screwed up when he did that 'favor' for Michael; he let hsi emotions get the better of him and was sloppy as a result. So many characters are tied into this particular storyline and it'll be interesting to see where they all go from here. Im particularly interested in seeing what Bodie will do after seeing his reaction after Slim told him about Kevin.
What do you think of this season so far, Sev ? Im really enjoying it, of course, but, I dont know, to me there's something missing. Maybe its the fact that there isnt an actual wiretap on Marlo and his crew and as a result no prolonged investigation. One of my favorite parts of the show has always been seeing how the cops build a case from the ground up, and that's sorely lacking this year, IMO.
Thats a good point about them not actually getting a wire up as of yet but the Major Crimes Unit was under the control of an ass kissing idiot. A " stats juker ". It certainly seems that a major theme for the season aside from the four children is that when you take tools away from police that do real policing ( robbery/homicide detects etc. ) the society it serves suffers greatly. I think why I personally believe this season of The Wire transcends quite simply anything thats been on tv is the radical shift in the p.o.v. of the show from cops/crooks to that of the four kids, who all deserve Emmy awards. How are you not gonna cry? Theyre all good kids and you just know that one or more or all of them are going down. And Herc turned into a j.o. at exactly the wrong time for those kids. Will Carver, whose on the contrary to his friend is becoming enlightened ( and in the same exact way that Bodie, his criminal counter point on the show, is becoming enlightened - which is friggin brilliant ) save one of them? Will Prez?

Is this the show George Pelecanos writes for?

Yes, he's written quite a few of the episodes. In fact, IIRC, I think he wrote Episode 49, which premieres tonight on HBO (but Ive already seen On Demand).
Speaking of which, I cant wait to see the season finale On Demand tomorrow after work. It will be bittersweet because I dont want the season to end after waiting so long for new episodes, but at the same time I cant wait to see how this absolutely brilliant, heartbreaking season will end.
You also make some great observations about this season, Sev. I agree completely about Herc, too. He is such a **** up, a perfect example of bad police and a poster boy for everything that's wrong with law enforcement today. I mean, he's been an awful cop since the show started but since he's gotten his stripes this season he's just gotten progressively worse. It's scary to think how many more young men have died at Chris' hands because Herc is too stupid to run an investigation correctly. Not only that, but what about poor Randy ? If anything happens to him its on Herc and Herc only.
Youre right about Bodie's enlightenment this season, too. I think he's been forced to look at the game in a much different way since he's become an independent, a 'man without a country', if you will, to borrow a line from Avon last season. I wish we could have seen more of him because he's always been a favorite of mine but I understand that alot of charatcers' arcs had to be scaled down because of the four boys' storyline. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the finale, though.

Tomorrow at 10pm on HBO, although I already saw it this past Monday On Demand. Utterly brillaint, heartbreaking yet hopeful all at once. Season five cant come soon enough.

Yea, me, too but in a way Bodie predicted his own death during his little soliloquy with McNulty.

Yeah I picked up on that. McNulty was pissed because the two of them I think actually liked each other, even though Bodie was always rolling his eyes at him.
I just wish that he could have killed them first and then walked.

As it should be. Its absolutely disgraceful that a show this brilliant, this socially relevant, has yet to be acknowledged by any of the major awards shows even once during its run.
Of course I didnt expect anything less. *Sigh*
