It's in the second to last episode of the season. The ending is phenomenal, when Stringer Bell meets his end. That's not it, though. The scene I refer to is when Stringer and Avon are on the roof or balcony, overlooking the city. They talk, share memories of good times and talk of the future. Just one thing: These men are both trying to kill each other. It takes The Godfather Part II's Roth-Corleone business to a different level. It's understated yet intensely powerful at the same time, seeing the two friends turned mortal enemies pretend to be nice while also endeavoring to destroy each other. In my mind, I see them having rotated around in a slow circle for three seasons, and in that episode, it all comes full circle. Brilliance beyond anything I've ever seen.

Oh, yea, I agree, extremely powerful, even more considering all that's at stake and how far both characters have come.

it'b interesting if they brought it back for one more season and made the prison the focal point. that would bring the show full circle.

Yea, that would be cool, not only because itd be an interesting and logical focal point to move on to, but for the bevy of past cast members currently locked up who could once again move back into the spotlight.

Too bad the show's done after this season, though. Personally I think that they could easily do another two or three seasons before it even gave off the slightest whiff of getting stale.

Yea, that was crazy, but part of the brilliant brutality that is The Wire.

I have been dissapointed with this season. It feels to disconnected to me and I HATE the Newspaper plotline.

Series Finale

The Wire
''You start to tell the story, you think you're the hero,'' Det. Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) said in a recent episode, struggling to explain his squishy moral center. ''And then when you get done talking...'' The scene ended mid-apology, so we'll never know the rest of that sentence. And as perhaps the greatest serial ever to smarten up the idiot box concludes its run tonight, we may never learn the answer to his question: Once you realize you're not even the hero of your own story, where the hell does that leave you? At least The Wire leaves us with five seasons of uncompromising quality, telling stories about terribly compromised people. We'd feel better if exquisite antihero Omar (Michael Kenneth Williams) had lived to shoot another day, and even better if Emmy voters finally (finally) gave the show its due. It is, after all, their last chance — The Wire is done talking."

Well they certainly wrapped up all the loose ends I would say.

I enjoyed the ending. Amazing.
