The2ndQuest posted:I think it works very well- it doesn't sell it as an outright comedy (outside the context of the cast) but more of an action fantasy flick with humor. Which is just about right. It's very difficult for me to see the full-comedic angle to the movie because, as a kid in the 80's, this was stuff to be taken seriously. Sure you found the characters goofy and funny (and, not having seen SNL, Caddyshack and other casts' previous films at that age for context, it wasn't naturally assumed), but you took it pretty straight, especially since some of the ghostly scenes are still pretty scary even today (Devil Dogs in particular). When I had the opportunity to catch the movie a few years ago in a theater in NYC (the best possible place to see this movie) while at school (a school only like 2 blocks away from the actual GB firehouse, as it turned out), it was an entirely different experience and a lot more lines and scenes previously taken seriously were far more comedic. Still, I can't take the movie as an outright comedy, so the trailer aligns well with that perception.

Chancellor_Ewok posted:VERY effective trailer. It doesn't tell you anything about the plot, but then it doesn't need to, not when they star dropping words like Nazis, diamonds and CIA.
