With Zaz's blessings, this is a thread to discuss the popular ABC series, Desperate Housewives.
The usual spoiler policy applies for discussions of new episodes.
So... who's ready to air some dirty laundry?

I had been meaning to do one of these for some time but I was hesitant after my Grey's Anatomy thread went over like a rock
I think the show's demographics and the board's demographics don't quite gell.
I do think its pretty good though. I always thought it was ballsy of them to make a TV series which is effecitvely just a drawn out dark comedy.
I did think it faltered a bit in its second season. We got a lot of answers but half of the fun of the series in the first place was the questions. I think they tried to offer up some new ones but no one was really interested. Season 3 looks like its off to a good start though. Bree's new beau alone raises plenty of questions least of which is his connection to Mike
I was also surprised to see ol' "almost wolverine" Dougray Scott on the show.

I was rather bummed with the Third season primere. I really loved the first and second season, but the primere for the third seemed a bit weak...

That may have been because I forgot to add it to the index; which I will do ASAP...

Actually I'm pretty sure its already in there.
Like I said, I think it has more to do with the fact that, like DH, even though its an insainly popular, highly rated series its skews a bit older then the boards do. Like how we don't have any J.A.G. or Matlock threads

And I love Matlock!
Drawn out dark comedy? I can see that in S1. But S2 with the Bree/George/Andrew and Gabrielle/baby plots were a little... unfunny.

Yeah I think thats kind of why I didn't really like season 2 that much.
Plus season 1 had the genualy interesting mystery of Mary Alice's suicide and they couldn't really follow it up with the mystery of the Applewoods. So it seemed like they kind of ended up rushing that whole thing and wrapping it up to move back to some of the dangling plots of Mary Alice. It could of been planned that way the whole time but thats kind of how it seemed to me.

Weezer? you start a JAG thread..and I'll be there every day.
I wanted to get into Desperate Housewives..cause it sure looked funny. I missed the pilot..and I am of the theory..you miss the pilot..you miss everything..that's also why I never got into CSI. I wanted to..but missed the first episode

Season 1 was brilliantly dark comedy. Very entertaining.
Season 2......sucked.
I kinda fell off of the bandwagon after that. I watched the first half of the season 3 debut and just got...bored.
Show is entirely carried by Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman. Whenever they try to focus on Eva Longoria or Teri Hatcher I lose interest fast because they just aren't anywhere NEAR the talents of Cross and Huffman.
I DO always like to see Kyle Machlachlan get work, though, and with Brenda Strong and Mike Ironside getting appearances, i'm convinced that someone involved is a STARSHIP TROOPERS fan, which i fully support.

Loved the season premiere, but maybe that's because I took a hiatus of the show after the first few episodes of S2. According to EW, the first epsiode may seem a bit weak because of the series creator wanting to 'clean' the show after the supposed S2 stinker. Hence the first episode's name: "Listen to the Rain on the Roof" and the running theme of 'cleaning' the dirty out. This Sunday's episode looks promising with wedding bells ringing....

I stopped caring when it forgot it was a satire, and I was only mildly interested before that. Felicity Huffman is good, though.

I was an on/off watcher of Season 1, but my mom eventually hooked me onto Season 2, so that's where most of my (very good) impressions of the show come from. I thought the Season 3 premeire had a lot of entertaining moments, although I'm really sick of Bree's storylines:
1. Falls in love with crazy guy who murdered his last wife
2. Someone comes a knockin' to tell her that she makes horribly stupid choices.
Go back to the mental hospital...

I have to agree that if S3 is about Bree repeating the same mistakes in S2, I will be a little turned off. It's unrealistic for a character that was as badly burnt as hers not to have learnt a few lessons.
I actually find Eva L's character Gabrielle entertaining. G and Carlos have good chemistry and an engaging, dynamic relationship. Her character went through the most realistic growth arc S1-3.

Sunday bump.
So does anyone have any ideas on how we should manage the discussion? I'm inclined to do a discussion on past Seasons, particularly as I just got Seasons 1 & 2 last month. So I was thinking of a discussion of each episode for a few days, until we meet up with the new Season.

Even my fiancee agrees that the Bree stuff has just gone way too far.
(I caught most of this past week's episode. My partner claims she just keeps watching the show hoping it'll get good again, but we spent the whole episode complaining about the unbelievability of Bree's situation after EVERYTHING she's been thru, as well as the lack of talent of Eva Longoria.)
