Brad Pitt and director David Fincher are teaming up again on a movie.
Filming begins November 6th in Louisiana.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Screenplay by Eric (Forrest Gump) Roth.
Plot Outline: An odd romance sparks between a woman of 30 and a man who, at 50, begins aging backwards.
Cate Blanchett plays the woman.
Now this is a film I'm looking forward to.
How about you?

Eh, i always find Fincher projects to sound more interesting then they actually are.
Again, that sounds like a really neat concept, but good gosh Fincher has gotta be up there among the most overrated directors in Hollywood.
And I'm kinda overdosed on Pitt.
We'll see, i suppose.

When they've worked together in the past, they certainly
made some good films. Seven and Fight Club were awesome films
for me.

It does sound rather interesting.
Never heard of the story, though.

Me either Zaz. And with such an interesting concept, you would
think someone else over the years would have tackled it. If they
have, I've never heard of it.
Fincher reportedly has acquired a new software process that will
make the reverse aging effects photorealistic to an extent previously
unseen.

I sure hope they work better then the aging effects used on Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in "Xmen 3". That was just creepy/distracting/creepy.

Blanchett, Fincher, and Pitt is something that will be worth checking out. Those 3 are all great.

The only Fincher film I didn't like was Panic Room. Fight Club, Seven, and The Game are his best IMO.

The only Fincher film I didn't like was Panic Room.
I heard that movie was scheduled for 4 months of shooting, but
it went on for 9 months because Fincher is a perfectionist.
I enjoyed the film, but since it all took place at one location
with a small cast, I wonder what in the world took so long!!!!

The thing about Panic Room was, imo, it was misadvertised.
I was absolutely stunned at the COMEDIC element involved. The trailers sure didn't show that side.
Movie was not what i was expecting at all.
And somehow that disappointed me. I expected alot more tension.

I enjoyed the comedic element in FIGHT CLUB as well.
I'm curious to see what the combination of F. Scott Fitzgerald
and David Fincher turns out like. Talk about a weird pairing!
By the way, here's a quote from David Fincher in January 2005, from dark horizons,
originally published in EMPIRE magazine.
"What I am desperately trying to do is put this movie together that has been around for about 75 years at Paramount called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It's based on an F.Scott Fitzgerald short story that's been adapted by Eric Roth. It's a little 200-page script; a sprawling romance between a woman of 30 and a man who, at 50, begins ageing backwards.
It's dark, it's romantic, and it also deals with mortality in a pretty unflattering way. The guy is born in 1919 - with the film itself beginning in the Civil war, travelling around the world and carrying on all the way through to the year 2000. And we'd have to have the lead actor be recognisable from the ages of 18 to 85 years old" says Fincher.

Here's the original short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald
that was the basis for the 200 page screenplay Eric Roth
created for Benjamin Button.
Fitzgerald's story is only 11 pages long.
Check it out here:

As it happens, I often coach actors when they are up for auditions,
and a young actress came to me this Saturday for help in preparing
for her Tuesday audition in New Orleans for the role of Benjamin's
mother. I got to see two pages of the screenplay she was going
to perform for the casting director. It struck me as dark material indeed.

What a strange little story.
Don't know how the heck they are gonna make a movie out of it.

Interesting choice for Fincher whom I am not a fan of. IMO, his films are too modish a quality that driven me to hate anything this director put out.

Given his uneven commercial track record, I'm surprised Fincher is being allowed
to do this. I understand it's the most expensive movie in the entire history of
PARAMOUNT studios.
