Yeah I see major change in him from the beginning to the end of the book. What yankee is mentioning as well as him coming to terms with the fact that he has to die in order for Voldemort to be defeated. There is a significant amount of character growth for Harry in DH.

The trio continue to grow and evolve, it just follows naturally with no surprises, unlike Dumbledore's backstory.

IIRC, in one of the first books, when Percy was head boy, or at least prefect, he was involved with his female counterpart. Was that Audrey?

Also, Charlie remains single.

Lastly, anyone see the transcript of JKR's talk with Potercast? They did an awful job, didn't get any good info out of her, their questions were worthless. Hopefully the Mugglecast people will get a shot.

EDIT: The answer to the first question is NO -- the old girlfriend was Penelope Clearwater. What happened to her? She got petrified by the basilisk, recovered, was head girl and snogging partner of Percy, then dropped off the face of the earth.

How many people actually marry the people they date in high school?

Alot more in the HP world than in real life, I think.

Has anybody actually read "Quidditch Through the Ages"?

I did on a whim, and was surprised at how funny it was.

A brief summary of the series might go like this: Dumbledore makes a plan. Everything goes according to plan.

I couldn't disagree more. Things only get to the events of DH because Dumbledore's plans fail dramatically. Now there were built-in failsafes and plenty of deus ex machina, but the original Dumbledore plan was to raise Harry as a lamb to the slaughter. One has to wonder if he wasn't separated from the wizarding world not only to keep him safe but also because it was a good way to keep Harry's connections to the physical world at a minimum. Dumbledore himself indicates on multiple occasions that the flaw in his plan was that he became too attached. He'd already failed to protect his sister and I think Harry, for him, because a chance to redeem himself for that. Unfortunately, as it became clear that that was impossible, he became more and more desperate. Sirius's death can certainly be attributed to Dumbledore's plan failing of his own accord. I'd say that the earliest example, in fact, is that he accompanies Harry to the hospital wing in GoF, consequently leaving Barty Crouch to the mercy of Cornelius Fudge and depriving Dumbledore of the chance to clear Sirius. He himself died only as a result of his failure to stick to the plan when he attempted to use the Resurrection Stone instead of destroying it.

Am I the only one who finds it a little weird/creepy that Angelina married her dead boyfriend's twin brother and namer her son after him?

I was just catching up on this thread and grin I decided to try my hand on a few of the questions posted last year.

1.) Does anybody think Grindelwald or Wormtail really redeemed themselves before they died?
Unlikely. In Harry Potter-land, the good are always good and the bad are always bad. Dumbledore didn’t see either in wizard heaven so that answers the question.

2.) Do the House-Elves, Centaurs, Goblins, and Giants ever become treated as equals with the witches and wizards?
Since the last thought we have of 17-year old Harry is how he can ask Kreacher to make him a snack, then I doubt that SPEW ever became anything more than the reason why Hermione and Ron had their first snog.

3.) Who did Draco marry?

I heard it was a woman called Greengrass, either Daphne or Daphne’s sister but I really have no idea if this was something from a Rowling interview or a popular fanon assumption.

4.) Did Crabbe's fire destroy the Room of Requirement?

I think it did. It certainly destroyed ‘him’.

5.) Are Sirius' and Regulus' names ever cleared?

Sirius – as Harry’s godfather – was definitely cleared. However as Regulus was a Death Eater and – worse – a Slytherin, nobody probably bothered.

6.) What happens to Fudge and Umbridge?

No idea. Who cares? tongue

7.) How did Lily eventually fall in love with James?

She had been in love with him since she first met him on the train to Hogwarts. Her initial appearance of dislike, and her subsequent opinion that he was a toerag, was just part of the typical Gryffindor mating ritual.

8.) Does Harry ever get along with Petunia and Vernon?

The first chapters of Book 7 showed that Harry and Hermione – as Lily Evans before them – have left their Muggle heritage behind for good, as they went on to become wizarding heroes and married into the Right Pureblood Family. Dursley probably inherited Uncle Vernon’s drilling empire and Hermione’s parents are probably still living happily in Australia (New Zealand) with no memory of their witch daughter.

9.) What happens to McGonagall, Sprout, Flitwick, Slughorn, Trelawney, and the other teachers?

No idea.

10.) Was the Crookshanks the Potter's cat, which Lily mentioned in her letter?

That’s an interesting theory.

11.) Did the Veil lead to the place Harry and Dumbledore were after Harry "died"?

Another interesting theory.

12.) Did they ever decide to give the Triwizard Tournament another try?

It fell into the Well of Lost Plots.

13.) Whatever happened to the Mirror of Erised?

Another victim of the Well of Lost Plots.

6.) What happens to Fudge and Umbridge?

I don't know about Fudge, but in interviews Rowling has told us what happened to Umbridge: She was "arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against Muggleborns". Sweet justice!!

2.) Do the House-Elves, Centaurs, Goblins, and Giants ever become treated as equals with the witches and wizards?

Again, from Rowling: "Hermione began a career at the Ministry of Magic at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and greatly improved life for house-elves and their ilk...." (She later moved to another department, where she "helped ensure the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws".)

Did anyone else read about the auction of a short story by Rowling. It was set three years before Harry's birth, and concerned James and Sirius. She said it was 'from the prequel I'm not writing.'
