We've got threads for which album, book and movie you've last listened to, read or seen, but what about live music? What was the last concert that you attended, and what did they play?
Last rock concert I attended was Carbon Leaf, back in October. They headlined with Matt Nathanson, and largely played through a lot of their newest CD, Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat.
1. Comfort
2. What About Everything?
3. One Prairie Outpost
4. Under The Wire
5. Love Loss Hope Repeat
6. Life Less Ordinary
7. Texas Stars
8. Russian Dance (Tchaikovsky) Intro To...
9. Paloma
10. Royal One
11. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
12. Block Of Wood
13. Let Your Troubles Roll By
14. Learn To Fly
15. Intro To...
16. Desperation Song
17. The War Was In Color
18. The Boxer
This afternoon, I went to the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestera, directed by Lou Kosma and featured the Norwich University Regimental Men's Chorus.
1 - Soldier's Chorus from Faust, Charles Gounod
2- Valentine's Prayer from Faust, Charles Gounod
3- Concerto No. 3 in C Minor for Piano and Orchestera, Op 37, 1. Allegro con brio, Ludwig Van Beethoven
4- Alto Rapsody, Op 53, Johannes Brahms
5- The Magic Flute, March of the Priests, Isis and Osiris and Papagena! Papagena! Papagena!, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
6- Selections from the Norwich Univeristy Men's Chorus.

You didn't say how you liked both concerts...good or bad? Worth the extra money to hear live?

Hm, I probably should have. Carbon Leaf was amazing. Granted, I'm slightly biased as they're my favorite band, but this time around, they were the best that I've ever heard them. Actually, if anyone wants to hear the same concert, Archive.org has a copy of the entire thing, just look under Carbon Leaf + Higher Ground, or something like that.
I also forgot, I saw Amos Lee live at the same place a couple weeks later, although I've forgotten what the track list was by now. I'll look and see if I can dig that up somewhere.

I haven't really gone to a lot of live music events recently. Probably the most recent was the Flaming Lips last summer. I've seen them four times now, I think, and they're always, always good.

Hmmm . . . I guess it was Kid Rock at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC. Not someone I would've normally paid to see, but my best friend is a cop in Raleigh and they received a bunch of free tickets. So since the price was right, I decided to go. I don't really remember the set list, but it was all his hits and then he covered some Rolling Stones, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, and a few others. I had seen him open for Aerosmith a few years back, which is another reason I wouldn't have paid to go. All in all, not a bad show.
I'll be seeing Billy Joel in about 3 weeks.

I was supposed to see Bonde do Role and Diplo last night, but their flight from Mexico got all screwed up because of the time change and the show was cancelled.

This doesn't count... Yet. But I'm going to see Jars of Clay next month.
They have been my favorite band ever since I was given their first album when I was 16. I'll let you know what I think of the performance if I can find this thread after teh concert.

It must've been around a year or so since my last concert, which was a little local "Grindcore" fest, featuring... off the top of my head... Magrudergrind, Hombrinous Dudes, and a handful of other bands that just aren't registering with me, at the moment. (But this weekend, I might be in line to catch a local band called Night Toucher.)

Roger Waters, Auckland New Zealand January 29 2007.
Roger Waters was a wonderful spectacle, full on production, surround sound, pyrotechnics, inflatables, huge video wall - and incredible sound. I had been worried about Roger's voice having seen a few recent YouTube clips (and Live 8 a year or two back), but the break over the New Year has worked wonders. Strong, loud, tuneful vocals. And of course with most of the band singing and providing BVs the sound was just huge.
There were a few songs where you could have been watching a Floyd Tribute band when Rog wasn't on vocals. On a couple of songs you know it would have been exactly the same whether Roger was there or not, but those moments passed quickly. The lead guitarist didn't have the subtlety of Gilmour, but then who does?
Obviously the show more of a 'spectacle' than Eric Clapton's (whom I'd seen 2 days previous), and a Greatest Hits heavy set (which suited a non hardcore fan like myself).
Found the Waters saxophonist blog, here. Nice to read what they got up to here.
Set list;
Set One
1. In the Flesh
2. Mother
3. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
3b. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (restarted from guitar solo, as lead gutarists amp had blown)
4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond
5. Have a Cigar
6. Wish You Were Here
7. Southampton Dock
8. The Fletcher Memorial Home
9. Perfect Sense
10. Leaving Beirut
11. Sheep
Set Two (The Dark Side of the Moon)
1. Speak to Me
2. Breathe
3. On the Run
4. Time
5. Breathe (Reprise)
6. The Great Gig in the Sky
7. Money
8. Us and Them
9. Any Colour You Like
10. Brain Damage
11. Eclipse
Encore
1. The Happiest Days of Our Lives
2. Another Brick in the Wall, Part II
3. Vera
4. Bring the Boys Back Home
5. Comfortably Numb
The inflatable pig was released during Sheep - floated up and away. My friends & I had a laugh about it landing on the nearby motorway and causing mass carnage. The comic strip backing / karaoke lyrics for his new song Leaving Beirut was wonderful.
