BBD, your casting choices are great, although a few are a bit too old to picture running around shouting "Yo, Joe", like Harrison Ford and Robert Redford. Now if it was them from 30 years ago, they'd be awesome. However, I can totally see Beatty, Hasbert, Duncan, Madsen, Li and Oldman in those roles.

2nd Quest, I think the point of calling it "Action Man" internationally is that that's the name that GI Joe toys were sold under in the UK and elsewhere. Calling it GI Joe would make it less recognizable to them. It doesn't have anything to do with Bush's politics and the current image of the US in Europe.

Oh god yes!

Definetly. Either him or Samuel L Jackson. And don't tell me that SLJ wouldn't an awesome Joe.

Admit it: Ray Park as Snake Eyes is perfect.

Great moves and no acting ability FTW!

It's the producer claiming a link between Bush politics and the name, though. And I'm fine with it being called Action Man internationally, but it better sure as hell be called GI Joe in the USA.

IF "they" make the film like the 80's cartoon it will rock
IF "they" make the film into some cheesy "PC"-"U.N."-"get along gang" with stun guns, it will suck.

I see Hollywood messing this up, from start to finish.

I always hoped that G.I. Joe would come back, like the good old days, but with groups like "code pink"
and others thinking that playing pretend is bad, I'm starting to think it never will.

If they made it like the 80s cartoon wouldn't everyone have to miss? tongue .
GI JOE strikes me as a good opportunity for America to make a "patriotic" movie because Cobra isn't really stereotypical of America's enemies, well for the most part anyway, so it could possibly offend nobody... Or maybe snakes?

GI Joe vs Transformers had artwork by Jae Lee.

It was awesome.

My oldest brother has the entire run of Larry Hama's comics. He talked me into reading them several years ago. They were dated, but very dramatic and, very emotional stories.

I especially loved Snake-Eye's siege on the Cobra Consulate building, after the Baroness shot Scarlett in the head. That would make an awesome sequel, if the the setup film is successful.

However if the Transformers film isn't incredibly profitable, would that kill a Joe movie before it ever got of the ground?

*head explodes*

The love of Scarlett's life is Snake-Eyes, and vice versa.

Continuity of GI Joe comics as written by Larry Hama > the crappy TV show

What's the point of making a GI Joe movie if your not gonna call it GI Joe? You know, the big name property title everyone would recognize?

Actually, worldwide, Action Man would be the more recognizable brand.

lol! Have you not seen this last decade's or so Speilberg films? The ones he directed?

All he has on Transformers is a Executive Producer's role. If you think he was on the set, or in any bit of post production area for more than a day or two, you're nuts.

It looks like the makers of this movie are just out to fill seats and offend as few people as possible. Making anything like what we expect of G.I. Joe is the furthest thing from their concern aparently. Typical Hollywood. There is nothing to look forward to with this.
