ks like the makers of this movie are just out to fill seats and offend as few people as possible.

But it's GI JOE, the cartoon hardly offended anyone. No one died in it. Everyone escaped death. Cobra Commander was a whiny ninny.

And that's exactly how they should not make the live action movie.

Bullets, not lasers. Snake-eyes and Scarlet, not Duke and Scarlet. A powerful enemy, not wimpy "retreat!" Cobra Commander. Destro's a bad mofo. People die, on both sides. If they aren't gutsy enough to kill off a main character, the grunts are there for a reason.

The key is to make it in line with the new America's Elite comic - slightly more realistic outfits, and more in line with a special forces movie. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they followed the short-lived 'Reloaded' premise.

Taking a leaf from the cartoon would spell certain doom. A movie such as this requires an assortment of true villains, and not buffoons.

Also, this form of GI Joe (A Real American Hero) was known as Action Force in the UK. Action Man was the 12" doll brand.

He'd be a great choice, but as someone other than Roadblock. Stalker or Iceberg, maybe.

Ray Park would be perfect for Snake Eyes. Marky-Mark would not make a good Duke, but a better Lt. Falcon (from the GI Joe Movie).

SLJ would not be good in this movie. He's not built for a military role. Jamie Foxx would do better (he did a fine job in "Jarhead"), but for Roadblock it has to be someone big and obnoxious. I honestly can't think of any decent cast members...ugh.

The love of Scarlett's life is Snake-Eyes, and vice versa.

Continuity of GI Joe comics as written by Larry Hama > the crappy TV show

And don't get me wrong: I 645% agree with you (as my "Silent Interlude" allusion above must have tipped you off), but my money's on them going to cartoon adapatation route and not the comic adaptation route, despite one (read: THE COMIC) being so far superior in story and quality, with a certain few exceptions (Shipwreck/Mara, War Without End, etc.)...

If they would do that and use the cartoon/comic as a base to build it up from; something more a long the line of GI-Joe Reloaded then I would be happy. But I suspect we aren't even going to know who is who until their name is spoken.

So....casting calls? Who should be who?

Robert Patrick as Hawk---

Nikki Cox as Scarlet---

Matthew McConaughey as Wild Bill---

If Destro is going to be black(he was White in the comic)I think...
Delroy Lindo as Destro----

Kelly Hu as the Baroness---

Ray Stevenson as Cobra Commander---

I'm at a total loss for Storm Shadow, and Snake-Eyes. Storm Shadow should be a younger Asian-American martial artist who can pull off a good acting job. Snake-Eyes shouldn't show his face, so he doesn't matter as much as long as he can pull off some major stunts and can make good use of body language.

Who would you like to see?

I wouldn't agree with Delroy as Destro- I can't see him doing a German/eastern europe accent. And it'd be a little weird to cast an asian looking actress as a russian or whatever it was Baroness was (and yes, I know Russia is in asia! tongue ).

The Baroness should be Kate Beckinsale. She might be able to pull off a Russian accent. And she looks good in black leather. Kelly Hu doesn't look Russian.

The real question is not who SHOULD they cast, but rather who WILL they cast:

Hawk: Melanie Griffith (you can't have a white male being a commander in a PC film. What's they matter with you?)
Lady Jay: Chyna
Scarlet: Jessica Simpson
Wild Bill: Jackie Chan
Destro: Ben Stiller
Baroness: Paris Hilton
Snake Eyes: Chris Tucker
Storm Shadow: Chuck Norris
Zartan: Danny Devito
And last but certainly not least..
Cobra Commander: Woody Allen.

Oh, yeah! You know it to be true.

England? Er...from what I can recall from the the original cartoon, the Baroness had a German accent (the English aren't intimidating). grin
