Michael Chiklis in The Fantastic Four.
I don't think the movie's bad, but it's not good either.

Jackie Chan in "Shanghai Noon". He has so much charisma, he even rescues this drivel.

Lord_NoONE posted: Ian McDiarmid: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith (though RotS was a decent film in its own right).
He was good in the first two, but his acting in RotS got incredibly bad at times.

Hugh Jackman in all the X Men films. Those films sucked, but he was a highlight.

Some respected film historian ( cant remember who ) actually posed this query in the early 90's and overwhelmingly he and his peers voted Tim Curry in Legend.

IMO, I think Nick Nolte saved the Hulk. I like the movie, but without him, I think it would have been utter crap.

Ian McCulloch from "Zombie". He, thankfully, doesn't keep the British out of his prose, and does a decent job in a mostly laughable horror movie.

Similarly, Don Johnson in the overlooked Dead Bang. Maybe not oscar worthy, but he's terrific in it.
There's an obscure refernce-Dead Bang...
I would have to agree here. Dead Bang isn't a particularly good movie- which is odd considering it's a Frankenheimer film- but Don Johnson delivers a solid performance.
I think Dead Bang was made duirng Johnson's last year in Miami Vice, correct? I wonder why he wasn't able to turn it into more of a success?

Now I actually like this movie, but I know most think it's crap.
Paul Bettany in "A Knights Tale"
I like Heath Ledger, Alan Tudyk, and Mark Addy as well personally, but this movie was the first that really made me notice just how good Bettany is.

Michael Ironside in "Scanners". The level of acting in this movie is truly godawful, except for Ironside.

Beowulf posted: Val Kilmer in Alexander. It was about the only thing good, besides a naked Rosario Dawson, in that craptacular piece of Stone-cinema.
Agreed! In fact, I never enjoyed Kilmer's past performances (except for 'Prince of Egypt, but that was just his voice!). However, in 'Alexander', I was surprised by how much I enjoyed his potrayal of the king.
Then again, perhaps any performance is automatically better than Colin "Mah Eyeriiish akh-senth fawr deees mooohveee" Farrell and Angelina "I must sound like Drrracooola's twin sisterrrr" Jolie.
Oh, and I must mention Christian Bale in so many of the bad movies he was in before 'Batman Begins'. Particular mention must be made to 'Equilibrium' (aka "Let copy the Matrix but use Brit actors!") and 'Reign of Fire' ("Let's fool everyone with the awesome poster of dragons attacking London!!!").

Kilmer has talent. Alas, he also has a craptastic personality.
