I never saw The Devil's Advocate, but I agree that he gave a very good performance in The Mantrix.

Costner has a very limited range: he's a personality, not an actor.

And Reeves? It's 1001 variations of 'wooden'. Yet directors want him and cast him in very unlikely roles. Go figure.

Ursula Andress in Dr. No. Her performance is very bad indeed, but it doesn't matter.

Jim Carrey as the Riddler in Batman Forever.

Max Von Sydow as Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon (bad movie, but guilty pleasure for many).

Tom Hanks in his many flops between Big (1988) and A League of Their Own (1992).

Too bad this isn't a topic on bad performances in decent movies, cuz I'd nominate Kevin Costner in Robin Hood. Although the other side of the coin is Morgan Freeman was good in Robin Hood, which was a bad movie... silly

Freeman is one of those great actors who can turn any crap roll into magic. Movies suck in spite of his performance, bot because of. Dude's got one of the greatest voices too. If I had a narrator of my life, I think it'd have to be Morgan Freeman.

I nominate Alan Rickman as well in Robin Hood. "CANCEL CHRISTMAS!"

Robert Englund in even the worst Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Pat Morita in The Karate Kid III.

Bill Murray in Ghostbusters II (He still delivered some hilarious lines in this movie, but everyone else forgot what movie they were in.)

I love this thread. This could go on and on for quite a while.

Sean Bean's pretty decent in some of films he's in which are considered to be not that great. The Island and National Treasure spring to immediate mind.

Can't believe I didn't mention this one early: Frank Langella's completely awesome portrayal of Skeletor in the awful He-Man movie.

Best of Skeletor, part 1
Best of Skeletor, part 2
Best of Skeletor, part 3

Such juicy villain dialogue and a performance that gives Ian McDiarmid a run for his money. And that "Master of the Universe" ascension monologue (foudn in the part 2 video link) delivery is just utterly fantastic- containing brilliant nuances amongst the over-the-top declarations.
