This is based on a list in EW some months back. I thought they missed several worthy candidates, but here's the list, starting with #25: Sean Connery in "Never Say Never Again" (1983)

"After 1971's "Diamonds Are Forever" Connery said "never again", and traded his Walther PPK for more lucrative non-Bond paydays. It rarely worked (see: "Zardoz") [or better yet, don't see it.] Twelve years later, we saw a man publcily eating crow. And it wasn't pretty. The then 53-year-old Scot's physique was saggy, his thining hair resembled the last sad wisps of cotton candy, and his macking on a young Kim Basinger was just plain creepy. And then, freakin' 'Octupussy' made more money."

Freakin Octopussy was the better film.

Sean Connery was the only thing Never Say Never Again ever had going for it.

Transition phase for Connery where he went down to the older man role right after that.

Might I recommend Marlon Brando's later filmography for future discussion(Dr.Moreau?)

Ya know i STILL have never actaully seen "Never Say Never Again".

Poor Sean. For such a Cinematic legend (and he IS a cinematic legend), does anyone have more bombs, gaffs and "what might have beens"??

I suppose that's a testament to how long he's been around, but still...I can understand why he's so crusty in his old age.

The only bond film i've ever seen is Casino Royale.

Connery was far worse in "League".

oh no, it had Irvin "the talented director who saved the Empire Strikes Back from George Lucas" Kershner. rolling_eyes Funny how Kershner, who I do believe is talented,
couldn't work his magic on this one. How hard can it be to make a successful movie when you've got friggin' Sean Connery playing JAMES BOND!

Kershner made a good film with Connery, but it was called "A Fine Madness"

Next: 24: Jason Alexander in "Dunston Checks In" (1996)

"The 'hiatus' film is a long and noble TV tradition. During rerun season, many small-screen stars cash their chips for a big-screen quickie. And we expect these movies to be terrible. Still, nothing could have prepared us for "Seinfeld's" George Constanza costarring with an age. And don't give me any of the "Eastwood did an ape movie" nonsense. Watching this flaccid flick you can't help experience a little 'shrinkage'."

Haven't seen this. Don't want to. And what about "Leonard, Part 6"

I blame the director.

I was going to say "You know what, you're right. I totally forgot about Kershner directing." but then you had to say THAT with the trademark "Ender Sai Eyeroll." Without Connery the film is nothing, no matter who was directing. The film is watchable, Connery is good and the film was successful, financially anyway. It made 137.5 million worldwide although Octopussy made more with 183.7 million. Ultimately the film is pointless and exist for no other reason then to make some money for Mr. Connery and Kevin McClory.

Connery is fun to watch even when he's in a terrible movie.

"Highlander" with a Frenchman playing a Scot, a Scot (Connery) playing a Spaniard, and an American playing a Russian, is one of my favorite very bad movies.

Next: Bill Murray in "Garfield" (2004)

"Should there be an exemption for kid's movies? No, because there is actually such a thing as good kid's movies. Murry put his late-career indie street cred on the line to voice the crudely animated, lasagna-eating feline opposite Breckin Meyer and Jennifer Love Hewitt. You have to wonder just how big a check was needed to get Murray to sign off on weak one-liners like: "I think I'm going to blow cat-chow chunks!"

Murray's films started to get good. Then he seemingly dropped from the radar. Then, this.

In graph form:

I for one didn't think Life Aquatic or Lost in Translation were the masterpieces people claimed them to be. Murray works best in a crazy comedy role and all though Garfield stunk, it's the type of movie Murray is best in.

Masterpieces? god no. Good films? I'd say so. Better than most of Murray's other work lately easily. Garfield is utter trash. He showed in those two films that his acting chops are up to par with his comedic ability. He held his own in dramatic roles, and my respect for him dramatically, along with many other's, went up significantly. And he just threw it all away. Just because Garfield is similar in style to his earlier films is no excuse for it. If Murray is going to commit himself to comedic roles he should read the scripts first.

There's not going to be another Caddyshack for Bill Murray. Nor will there be another ghostbusters, or even another groundhog day. But that doesn't mean he should just give up on quality comedy and rake in cash from crap. Plenty of comedians of his age and older have taken smaller roles in good films and gained respect for it.
