All of DeNiro's comedy projects except for Analyze This have been huge disapointments

Okay, sequel(s?) notwithstanding, the original Meet the Parents is a hilarious movie.

Drac provided me with another list for this thread, so here we go...
Anthony Hopkins in "Bad Company"(2002)
The critics speak:
"The film was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joel Schumacher, and reflects the worst of their shallow styles: wildly overproduced, inadequately motivated every step of the way and demographically targeted to please every one (and no one)."
"The first question to ask about Bad Company is why Anthony Hopkins is in it. We assume he had a bad run in the market or a costly divorce, because there is no earthly reason other than money why this distinguished actor would stoop so low."
"While there's something intrinsically funny about Sir Anthony Hopkins saying 'Get in the car, bitch,' this Jerry Bruckheimer production has little else to offer."

When Anthony Hopkins teams up with Joel Schumacher and Chris Rock you know something isn't right.
Saw fifteen minutes of the film when my Dad rented it and it was enough to make me feel embrassed for poor Anthony. This is the blackeye of his otherwise outstanding collection of work.

A blogger contributed this: "I could add a couple to that. Will Smith, Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline in Wild, Wild, West. Where we also found out a peek at Selma Hayeck's tush is not worth 2 million dollars."

Zaz posted: Next: 4. Tony Curtis in "The Bad News Bears Go to Japan"(1978)
"Walter Matthau wisely wanted no part of this inept sequel (neither, apparently, did Tanner or Lupus). But Curtis was only too willing to check his pride at the door to play a sleazy promoter in what wound up being a smorgasbord of racial gags (those crazy Asians and their endless bowing! And get this, they eat raw fish...what savages!). It's amazing Japan remained an ally after this came out."
This is slightly misleading, as this was the third Bears movie, Matthau was only in the first. The second was "The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training". IIRC, Willaim Devane took over the managerial chores.

I have to admit something..And this is gonna be hard, but i have to get it out there....
I own "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle".....Because.....*deep breath* I'm in love with Piper Perabo.
My dad was a big Rocky and Bullwinkle fan, so when the movie came out we went to see it...and I was smitten... In a way that i have not been smitten since i saw Jennifer Connelly in "Labyrinth"...
OOOOOH Piper........<3 U :P

The problem with Wild, Wild West lies more with the decision to cast Will Smith in the lead role, than wih Kevin Kline or Kenneth Branagh. Whenever I see this movie on TV, I always watch it because I want to like it and it always seems like its trying to be and wants to be really fun movie, but I can never get past the fact that a black man in 1870 would have stood a snowball's chance in hell of becoming a Secret Service Agent and for that reason alone, the whole movie falls apart.

Yes...this movie is an abomination.
Having said that, Will Smith is a figure that manages to transcend color quite well on screen, unless the character calls for typical "blackness"(Bad Boys etc...). How you can manage to find fault in a black man as an 1870s secret service agent, and not have issue with a giant 1870s robotic spider is wild. This movie is INTENDED to be bigger than life, and the ballsy move to cast Smith in the lead is far from the cause of this films stink. If it was successful in its intent, the race of the lead, as well as the giant robo villainy would be non issues.
Branagh as an actor is so full of win its rediculous, and I found his portrayal to be well handled when you consider the nature of the film itself. A grab for the check? Perhaps =)
Kline was the biggest dissapointment in my opinion. Being "Joe Gadget" wasn't enuf...he mailed it in. I still don't think this is the reason for the movies poor quality, but I would say he was in it for the check more than Branagh, at least from the effort I saw put forth on screen.
I am with you in that I really want to like this film. My problem is I don't really know why its bad, I just know it is.

I.... think this movie's kind of funny. Granted, I also haven't seen it since probably 2000 But I thought the overall concept was really fun. I never thought it was taking itself seriously at all. Pure pulpy stuff. I should see it again... although yes, I can see the objection to Ken Branagh who is just so utterly devastatingly brilliant as Hamlet, Benadick, Iago, etc. On the other hand, I have heard Branagh personally is a huge joker even when directing, so it's oddly not surprising to me to see him in such a bizarrely comic role, though maybe I just need my head checked

Yeah I realize that the movie is intended to be fun, and and over the top, but it also has to be grounded in reality to some extend and the reality is that given the timeframe the movie was set in, Will Smith was the wrong actor for the part, which is a shame because I usually like his movies alot. In any case, casting Will Smith in the lead was just an excuse to give Kenneth Brannagh lots of one-liners to throw around, none of which were very funny.
