Because he earned so much more than everyone else despite the fact he was only in it for 13 minutes.

He was worth it. The rest of the acting in that movie aside from Hackman and Reeve wasn't too great.

Brando wanted Jor'El to be a green box so he could just do the voice and not have to actually be on set.

Yes, this was the textbook definition of a shameless role.

Next:

"21. Matt Dillon in Herbie: Fully Loaded
(2004) It was hard not to be moved by Dillon's Oscar nod for Crash. After all, here was an actor who'd never been taken seriously — a lunch-pail lunk we'd all secretly been rooting for since The Outsiders — finally getting some respect. But then, he made this Lindsay Lohan turkey. It's more than a little humiliating watching our favorite greaser getting sprayed in the face with motor oil and losing a war of wits to a VW Bug."

You do wonder about this one.

The Outsiders wasn't my type of movie.

Did he play ponyboy?

They seem to feel she was in her natural milieu, so to speak...

I don't see how. Lohan tends to act in the opposite kinds of movies Dillon does. Dillon typically acts in artsier films, though he occasionally 'sells out' (ie Herbie). Lohan tends to play crappy roles for a decent salary, though she occasionally will partake in a classier affair (ie Prairie Home Companion).

There's Something About Mary was a work of art. Dillon has no reason to be ashamed of his job in that film.

In the Summer of 2005 I had a friend who met Dillon at a Los Angeles restaurant. He told him not to see Herbie, but to see Crash instead.

Zaz, does that article/list mention anything about the possibility that some of these actors & actresses took said roles because they actually "liked" the script? It always seems to be the 'default' reason why successful performers take roles, but I wonder if that was the literal truth in the case of some of the entries on this list...
