Darth Dark Helmet posted: Apparently, the story this time around concerns a movie crew filming on a remote island that finds themselves besieged by a mysterious giant monster seemingly made out of black smoke.
I 100% believe this. Except I think it is a TV show called lost, not a sequel to cloverfield.

That is so painfully an April Fools joke. Even the "cast" is just a rehash of the Lost characters.

Yeah, that sequel info has to be an April Fools joke- even the title fits the notion, as in "blowing smoke up your..."

Saw this last night on DVD. Probably my newest favorite movie in a while. Loved the concept and I'm glad they stuck this to the average Joe POV. It really brought to life the characters and freakiness of everything going on.
The special effects were great and definitely held up the films spirit. I wouldn't mind a sequel with a different point of view. It was a nice break from the traditional movie ways.
Definitely getting the dvd for this, would love to discover more about this film. Someone I know was telling me about the easter eggs, so I definitely have to check that out.

I saw it over the weekend and while not overly impressed by it was still pretty good. I like the uniqueness of the handheld camera but I felt that the movie was too rushed after 20 mins at the party at the beginning considering the movie is only a little over an hour long.
Also, this may have been asked already, but was there an Easter egg for Lost in there somewhere ? I thought Id read that but I didnt see anything as I watched it, unless it was super subtle and I missed it.

There was a slight connection to Alias (that apparently also was referenced by Heroes) with the Slusho soft drink company being the company that hired Rob (and whose parent company may be responsible for awakening the creature). This soft drink apparently appeared on Alias in an episode. Not quite lost, but still JJ Abrams.
