I'm going to add Sweeney Todd to the list. I love Burton but I'm getting sick of how he only casts Depp and his wife these days. It gets incredibly boring

Yeah, I've got to agree with the Shrek comments. Sweeney Todd I was vaguely looking forwards to, but when I found out it was a musical I was really irritated. It's like wasting a film. And it's true that the Burton-Depp-BonhamCarter love triangle is in too much nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I like my Burton with a side-order of Depp, but this proves that there can be too much of a good thing.

Well, being a musical is really the point of the exercise. It's because it's a fantastic Sondheim musical that it's going to be a movie at all. And the musical is extremely good, so I think there's little to be disappointed about there.

You're just now finding out Sweeney Todd is a musical? It's been around for nearly 30 years, and it's one of the most famous and successful musicals in history...it's even been performed in some of the world's best opera venues. It's not like the studio kept it a secret that it was a musical!

Like Darth Paul said, it's a STEPHEN SONDHEIM musical, a fantastic one, Sondheim's not just anyone in musical theatre. Look him up on google. He is THE gold standard for musicals.

From Wikipedia:

Stephen Joshua Sondheim (b. March 22, 1930) is an American stage musical and film composer and lyricist, one of the few people to win an Academy Award, multiple Tony Awards (seven, more than any other composer), multiple Grammy Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize. He has been described by Frank Rich in the The New York Times as "the greatest and perhaps best-known artist in the American musical theater." [1] His most famous scores include (as composer/lyricist) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, and Assassins, as well as the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy. He was president of the Dramatists Guild from 1973 to 1981.

I wasn't looking forward to Sweeney Todd, but then I saw the second trailer and I am very excited. Depp looks brilliant and this is from someone who hated his bit in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Well, since January and February are like August, a dumping ground of films even the studios have no hopes for, they'll be quite a few in the next little while. tongue
