Courtesy of TCM, I finally saw the original 1957 "3:10 to Yuma", starring Glenn Ford (in the Crowe role) and Van Heflin (in Bale's role). They are both excellent, as is the film; it's economically directed by Delmer Daves. It's shorter, B & W, and the ending is different. Well worth a look, especially Heflin, who didn't get too many good leading roles in Hollywood.

3:10 to Yuma was the best Western film to come out since Tombstone. Granted Tombstone will always be the top Western in my books because of Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday, this was definitely a terrific film. Russell Crowe was a delight and Christian Bale was glorious. Even you haven't seen it go see it and bask in its glory. My favorite seen is with the fork.

I was quite interested in the differences between the films.

I think 3:10 to Yuma was the best film of 2007, but I still have some to watch.

Didn't American Gangster come out that year too? I have yet to see it and I own it.

"There Will Be Blood" did, too. I'm a bit undecided about that one.

I really want to see that movie. My friend and I have different work schedules so it's hard. He is my access to the film.
