Did anyone catch the pilot for the new show Pushing Daisies last night?
I just caught it on ABC online and man... what an amazing start to a show. Highly original, quirky and just amazing. I can't wait to see the next episode. I think this has the potential to be the best new show of the year, provided audiences stick around. Apparently it got decent ratings.
From Wiki:
Pushing Daisies is a "forensic fairy tale" that focuses on Ned, a piemaker with a mysterious ability to make the dead live again. The gift is not without its complications, however if he touches this being a second time, they'll be dead permanently. If they live for more than 60 seconds, somebody else nearby will die. ("It's a random proximity thing".) It's a gift that he puts to good use to help a private investigator friend, Emerson Cod and his childhood sweetheart, the once-dead Charlotte "Chuck" Charles.

Saw it, greatly enjoyed it. It's the only new show I've tried this season; not much else has caught my eye (though I may check out Life on account of Damian Lewis).
This show has such a unique "fairy tale" tone, and it does have kind of a Burton vibe. I love "Chuck"; Chi McBride and Lee Pace are also doing great work. If this show didn't warm your heart, it might be time to change the batteries that run your robotic soul.
I have to wonder how the show will do on a week-to-week basis now that the pilot is done. What will a "typical episode" look like? I'll definitely be tuning in to find out.

Apparently it got some really good ratings last night, that'd awesome if the numbers keep up.

I've seen every episode so far, and I have to confess, I've hardly laughed. But since this one's so unique and original, I've been hanging on, curious about which way it's going to to next. I like the "fairy tale-type" narration though. It's a clever way to keep the show light.
One thing I really don't like though is the rapid-fire dialogue. It's just too wordy and spoken too fast. I realize that's an intended part of the show's charm, but it can be an annoyance if you're not recording it and can't instantly rewind your Tivo to consult what was just said. Any word on what the show's ratings are? Seemed like most critics liked it but felt it was too original and would likely get axed early.

Well then pay attention the first time. Too many people watch TV and movies while they are doing 3 other things, instead of sitting there and JUST watching the show. If it's too fast for you to keep up with then, well I dunno what to tell you...

That's exactly it. It's like reading with little comprehension. If you cannot regurgitate what you just read, or in this case watched, then you did not pay attention sufficiently. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when a friend of mine gets up during a movie they've never seen and is like "oh no don't pause it, it's okay."
I do get the feeling that Pushing Daisies is one of those shows you have to really watch and pay attention to. You also have to see it from the beginning. I first saw the third episode about 20 minutes into it and while I did like it enough to check it out further, I did not understand even what had happened in that episode, let alone the previous two.

I love the writing, it's absolutely fantastic, and really fits with this show. And, it's starting to be consistantly good, even a couple episodes in. I'm loving this.

Even worse when you're watching a TV show or movie with one of those people "Who is she? Why did she do that? Where did that come from" What was that?"
SHUT UP or so help me god I will punch you in the spinal fluid!
Anyways. Yeah this show is great, it's like mainlining pixie sticks.
