This will only be great if Richard Dean Anderson plays McGyver and they bring back Michael Des Barres as Murdock and Bruce McGill as Jack Dalton. Unfortunately Dana Elcar passed away several years ago so Mac would need a new boss at The Phoenix Foundation.

Frasier, Lost, and Whose Line Is It Anyway? are the best tv shows ever.

From Rotten Tomatoes:

"James Cameron’s Next Movie Might Be The Dive
Posted on Friday, May 16th, 2008 at 2:20 am by: Peter Sciretta

James Cameron told the Hollywood Reporter that he wants “to do something a lot smaller” after Avatar. It is possible that Cameron’s next project could be The Dive, about the romance between controversial Cuban free diver Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras and Frenchwoman Audrey Mestre. Based on a true story, Mestre became a free diver under his guidance, and went on to break several world records before dying in 2002 while competing. Ferreras was featured in the 2001 Imax documentary Ocean Men: Extreme Dive."

I read the article on this in Sports Illustrated. It was at once sad and infuriating, along the lines of the nimrods who risk their lives on mountains.

They could recast the role with Don S. Davis (General Hammond on SG-1)- he was Dana's stunt double/stand-in on MacGuyver (which is probably one of the reasons Anderson got him the gig on SG-1).

"FROM VARIETY) — George Clooney is set to star in Stare at Goats, an adaptation of British writer Jon Ronson's book The Men Who Stare at Goats, the true story of a U.S. Army battalion charged with using paranormal powers, starting in 1979. The title comes from the notion that you can kill a goat simply by staring at it. Clooney's producing partner Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck) will direct the project, which has floated around for some time, but only came together as the marketplace at the Cannes film festival heated up on Thursday. (Variety)"

I think that ranks high on the list of un-enticing titles...

A gerund might make more sense.

"(FROM VARIETY) – Breck Eisner (Sahara) has been tapped to direct a live-action Flash Gordon movie for Sony Pictures Entertainment. The studio came up as the winner of a heated bidding war over rights to Alex Raymond's 1930s comic strip, about handsome polo player Flash Gordon, who is taken to the planet Mongo with love interest Dale and the mad scientist Dr. Zarkov. There, the trio meet the evil ruler Ming the Merciless as well as Hawkmen, Sharkmen, and other interesting individuals. The strip launched a successful movie serial in the 1930s, starring Buster Crabbe, who later played Buck Rogers, and then inspired a 1980 film that starred Sam Jones as Flash and featured a soundtrack by the rock band Queen. The franchise has also had several TV incarnations, most recently a Sci Fi Channel series starring Eric Johnson. Eisner is currently working on a remake of The Creature From the Black Lagoon as well as a remake of zombie master George A. Romero's 1973 horror flick Crazies. Eisner also directed the premiere episode of the upcoming NBC horror anthology series Fear Itself. (Variety)"

Why remake this movie? The 1980 version is fine.

Flash Gordon is something I don't mind seeing updated every 20 years or so.

"(FROM VARIETY) – Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon are starring in Cameron Crowe's as-yet untitled romantic comedy adventure for Columbia Pictures. Crowe will direct from his own screenplay and is producing along with Scott Rudin. The plot is being kept under wraps. Columbia beat out four rival studios in a bidding war over the fully-developed project, which is scheduled to start shooting in January, once Stiller and Witherspoon's schedules open up. Stiller next will be seen later this summer in Tropic Thunder, which he also co-wrote, produced and directed, and he is shooting Night at the Museum 2: Escape From the Smithsonian. Witherspoon's upcoming projects include Four Christmases, with Vince Vaughn, and she is voicing characters for DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens. (Variety)"

Looks interesting...

Cameron Crowe is easily one of my personal favorites (Seattle repreSENT). I even enjoyed Elizabethtown. I look forward to this.

Checked it out of the library a couple months ago. Still have it lying around. I really should read it.
