I watched it again recently, and I was shocked how good it was. None of the action sequences had that set-piece feel to them, if you know what I mean - they made sense and fitted in with the story.
I had expected the movie to feel dated in some way, but it is still as great as ever.

Well, there is one way to make the action scenes feel goofy: Join the army. You don't clear buildings the way those Marines do if you want to live.
But as that's like 1/1,000,000 of the population, it doesn't matter

Awesome film. I loved Aliens since I was a young boy.

What?
It's a great movie, but it's not The Godfather or anything.

Godfather isn't a sci-fi movie.

It's a very good flick; Cameron could really bring it, so to speak. "He's just a grunt!"

I doubt that Cameron studied the fine art of urban combat before he made Aliens.

He should've.
But it still doesn't particularly keep from me from enjoying the hell outta this movie. Although the "Platoon in space" comparisons make my eyeballs want to explode.

It's fun and different seeing a female protagonist, and the final fight is the clash of mother-ships, so to speak.

"Aliens" is probably my favourite movie of all-time. I have watched it a hundred times, i'll probably watch it a million more in my lifetime. It never gets old.
In fact it's one of those rare masterpieces that gets better with every viewing.
