Total Recall

Awesome. Outstanding. Sharon Stone's finest hour, if you ask me and the "consider this a divorce" line is one of the great moments of cinema. Incredibly fun; however, I am not totally sure I agree with the synopsis when it says the movie 'makes sense.' tongue

Firefly is my favorite television show of all time. There's so many good things you can say about it, but I think one thing truly makes it stand out and that is the fact that you love the crew of Serenity and care about them. When you feel you know deep characters and love them well before the end of a show that barely ran half a season, it's truly something special.

They are still talking about an animated series.

Don't forget the comics. Back in '05 there was Those Left Behind which was pretty much a bridge between the show and the movie. Now there's Better Days (issue #1 came out this week) which takes place after the show ends but before TLB. And in the letter column they mentioned that Whedon & Ron Glass were working on a Shepard Book story, hopefully showing his history as an operative that was hinted at in the show & movie.

14. CHILDREN OF MEN (2006)
Directed by Alfonso Cuarón

It probably wasn't Universal's best decision, releasing Children of Men on Christmas Day 2006. How many people want to spend their holiday watching a dystopian nightmare, even if it is a work of art? That's sort of like showing A Clockwork Orange to your grandma on her birthday. Set in 2027, Men is a dark, ripping road movie that follows Clive Owen as he tries to lead the world's first pregnant woman in 18 years to safety. Some naysayers called it too bleak, but — more than any movie in recent memory — we believe this sci-fi thriller will be rediscovered as a true classic down the line.

POP CULTURE LEGACY What stands out is the way Y Tu Mamá También director Cuarón uses his futuristic setting to evoke today's world, with scary allusions sprinkled throughout to the Iraq war, Abu Ghraib, the Holocaust, and more.

THE BEST BIT Aided by a little CG trickery, Cuarón and his cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki, deliver some of the coolest tracking shots in the history of cinema — the best being a jaw-dropping, four-minute action sequence built around a carjacking attempt on a remote forest road. —Gregory Kirschling

Another one I havent seen.

Children of Men was disappointing.

It dissolved into a basic chase movie about halfway through.

The first half was great though.

I didn't think it could live up to the hype. I was wrong. It was an amazing film and it's at the top of my DVDs to buy list.

So you decided to not pay attention to the layers upon layers of devolving humanity and how despite the child being the savior the world would still be messed up because that is just human nature. The second half of that movie was far from just a chase scene.

Serenity was overrated. It was good, but overrated.

Children of Men is great though. That shot during the battle at the end is absolutely breathtaking. That whole sequence is amazing.

Seeing as how the layers upon layers of devolving humanity was already established in the first half of the movie... what more did that add to the movie, besides being the background to the basic cinematic chase scene?
