Sorry I'm late, but what's the argument here? Blu-Ray won. HDDVDs are no longer being developed. I even hear X-box is considering making the switch. So glad I bought a PS3.

Well I didn't so sue me. Geeze rather uppity aren't we?  Just kidding, I figured everyone knew I was just rubbing in the HDDVD supporters faces. But again, in a joking manner.
I'm more concerned about the price of Blu-Ray flicks than anything else. But I guess DVDs weren't much different when they came out.

LOL here we go again. First of all, yes they are different. DVDs were as low as $17.99 within two months of product launch. Second of all, Blu Ray did not just come out. It's been like two years. They are more expensive than DVDs were, period.

We never said renting was excluded.
Hey, if you've got a Blu-Ray player already and you just want to watch movies on Blu-Ray, renting is always an option. And if you've got Netflix (for those of us in the U.S.A.) then renting BR discs is no more expensive than conventional DVDs.

It must be really embarassing for X-Box. I always tell people, you can never go wrong with Sony. In the end, when making a choice and can't decide, go with Sony. ... Sony is almost "always", if not "always" at the forefront of technology ... people don't listen ... :P
