Seriously, I couldn't even begin to mention all the good things about the script. That line is one of probably a dozen classic lines, and dozens more good ones.
I wanted to note that, when you think of all the awesome edits, especially the end sequence, recall that this film was edited on flatbed, not on a digital non-linear system, because they didn't have the money. Pretty impressive.

I have to say that I have yet to buy the DVD of this (I own the videotape; DVDs didn't exist when I was first buying), and I wondered what people thought of the extras on the double DVD release? I don't normally care for making-of documentaries and the like, but occasionally I find the extras to be worth it (my original, non-director's cut of Donnie Darko had some great cut-scenes, for example), so I'm wondering what people thought of the commentary, deleted scenes, etc?

Next: 5. "The Third Man"
"This Graham Greene-penned tale of a pulp novelist (Joseph Cotten) investigating the mysterious death of his friend (Orson Welles) in post-WWII Vienna has all the elements of a chiller: sketchy black market dealings, a fishy demise, a nagging question ("Who is the third man?") and the best climactic sewer chase of all time."
This was voted the best British film of all time, and a case can be made for it. Nice zither music; terrific performances by Welles, Cotten, Trevor Howard and Alida Valli; wonderful mise en scene.

Tremendous movie, very popular here in Austria, particularly in Vienna, where there are Third Man tours, etc.

For years The Third Man was the movie most likely to put me to sleep, usually before Harry Lime turned up. This has rather coloured my perception of the film, but I did finally get to see all of it a few years ago, and it is good. Joseph Cotten is not a particularly interesting or charasmatic lead in this, at least for me. Wells is good, though.

Joseph Cotton does a great job playing this really lame, unappealing American totally out of his element in post-war Vienna. Sure, Wells gets all the fireworks, but Cotton definitely holds his own.
Great performances all around, in fact.

It's a tough role, and he plays it well.
Next: "North by Northwest"
"Cary Grant never explored his dark side better than he did under Hitchcock's guidance (also in 'Suspicion,' 'Notorious'). Their last pairing, this '59 thriller, is iconic for the biplane chase and the final scene on Mt. Rushmore, but it should also be remembered for Grant's career-defining performance -- as the wrong man."
One of Hitchcock's best, with loads of wit and wonderful set pieces; the mountain road, the crop-duster, and Mount Rushmore. Landau and Mason are a hoot as the bad guys.

That last shot, with it's phallic symbolism, is wry Hitchcock wit at it's best.

Such a great film. Several of the thrillers we've discussed had comedic elements. I'd wager this is the most that way. I love it. The ultimate "normal guy caught in a crazy dangerous situation" film. I should watch it again. One of the few Hitch films I don't own, though

Wonderful film. Hitch did love the "innocent in peril" movie, and this is one of the genre's finest examples.Grant is on top form, and James Mason has one of the best villain voices ever.
The cut from Grant and Saint stuggling on Mount Rushmore, to their honeymoon (?did I remember that right?) always takes me by surprise.
Edit: Calling this a "crime thriller" is stretching it a little, isn't it? It's really a spy thriller.

Call it whatever you want, it's brilliant. I caught a half hour or so on German tv a few weeks ago (when they're at the auction house), it was even brilliant dubbed into German.

It takes me by surprise, too, but I also feel like it was a little bit of a cheap way out. Either way, great movie.

What does Grant sound like, dubbed into German? I hear they keep certain actors for dubbing certain Hollywood stars.
