I read a summary/analysis on the internet once that managed to make some sense of it.
But that scene was unbelievably hot.
EDIT: I almost think he gave us that hot scene as token gift before he mind-****ed us all with the ending.

I am not a fan of having to consult outside material for a movie to make sense.

It is on the list for me, but I hope from all my reading about it I can make some sense of the plot.
Have not watched nor am I inclined to see Exotica. Liked Bound felt the Sharon Stone one was okay... though I did like the way they did the ending.

Next: LAST TANGO IN PARIS (1972)
"Marlon Brando plays Paul, an American in Paris looking to ease the pain of his wife's suicide through lots and lots of no-strings sex. Which he does, to emotionally devastating results, with Jeanne (Maria Schneider), a Parisian who's got no idea what she's in for.
SEXIEST SCENE: Hard to say, since so much of the l'amour in Bernardo Bertolucci's film isn't about titillation; it's about debasement."

Next: "THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY (1999)
Amoral chameleon Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) is in sun-kissed Italy, ostensibly looking for Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law), the wayward son of a stateside businessman. Instead, he's looking for a new life to crawl inside of...and he chooses Dickie's. After all, if Dickie won't love Tom, then what else is he good for.
SEXIEST SCENE: Sweaty with youthful exertion, Tom and Dickie sit in with a local jazz band into the wee hours of the morning, bellowing ''Tu Vuo' Fa L'Americano,'' and bonding as only idle Americanos can."

I don't find Ripley "sexy", per se, since I'm hetero and happily married at that (though both my wife and I enjoy Gweneth Paltrow, grrrr)... but it is an excellent thriller that keeps you guessing till the final moments, and manages to inject a certain degree of escapism and wish-fulfillment into a creepy homicidal suspense movie. Good, good stuff. RIP Anthony Minghella.

Hoffman is what I remember from that film. Much more interesting than Ripley or Dickie.

Yeah, Hoffman's "Freddie" character seethed with malice and a kind of casual hatred of anything that existed outside his world of well-heeled world travel and jazz-enthusiast frivolity. But interesting? Damon's Ripley, the perfect mimic, the genius sociopath, the boy who wants so badly to be loved that he'll kill to get it, is a fascinating character IMO.

Literally, "Your Mileage May Vary," coming from the small print in (American?) automobile commercials in the 70's and 80's. It has come to mean an acknowledgement that the opinion of the poster may not be shared by everyone. - Urban Dictionary Google is your friend.

In that case, thanks for the thoughtful discussion. I'll move on now.

Promises...
I notice that 'thoughtful discussion' translates from the Vortigernese [love that name BTW] to 'you agree with me.'

Not at all! I love a good debate/discussion, and I love to hear other people's thoughts and opinions, especially when they're well-thought out and well-articulated, even when they disagree with my own. But bowing out of a discussion because of the perception that I think I "always have to be right" is just no fun at all, IMO. Let's talk and have fun and share opinions. Tell me why you think Ripley is not as interesting as Freddie! Perhaps I'll gain a new appreciation for that pasty-faced devil.
