Eastern Promises was a great film, but I just remember thinking "WTF?" when it ended, because I expected a lot more to happen. The Turkish bath scene was extremely good, quite uncomfortable to watch, must have been even more so to film!

Next: "Memento"
"Christopher Nolan's detective noir about a man (Guy Pearce) on a quest to avenge his wife's murder is like nothing that came before it. Told in reverse to mimic the protagonist's inability to make new memories, the tale hurtles toward a shocking conclusion/beginning that'll have you asking: Does the start justify the means?"
*Sigh* I know I should see this.

It's better the second time because you can piece everything together.
Zaz, you should see this and Eastern Promises.

Memento is one of my all time favorite movies. It's a totally unique experience the first time you watch it and is never the same again. Not to say that it isn't good on repeat viewings, just that your perspective changes.

I would, but I don't have the money to rent a lot of movies right now.

I only recently saw this, and loved it.
The backwards thing sounded kind of like a gimmick, but in practice it was a really awesome way to put us into the protagonist's shoes.

Memento has an outstanding cast and a great script. And I know everyone gets tired of hearing me say things like this, but it's not really just a suspense film; it's about the existential dilemma of man, our inability to really know anything and about the final corruption of evil; the action is nothing compared to the decision to act.

Next: "The Departed"
"Martin Scorsese's tightly wound undercover-cop-vs.-crooked-cop drama is not only his best flick in years, it's also his personal best for box office take -- and his first Best Director Oscar winner (can't forget the Oscar!). Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin all give career-best performances."
Not seen this.

Great movie that far surpassed it's mediocre source material.

It's the first Scorsese film I'd seen that I was able to fully enjoy beyond it's technical brilliances.

Easily one of my favorite cop films, the story and cast were both brilliant.
