I have watched the first two episodes and think that this miniseries has done a great job with portraying how things were in the Revolutionary War and for Independence Day. So far, it has been a pretty good miniseries.

I have to admit--I got a tad choked up in the scene in which we declared our independence. Very well done.

I enjoyed the first two episodes, and defintely plan to watch the remaining five.

Can you give your opinion of Giamatti as Adams? And the rest of the casting?

Definitely loved the protrayal of the characters. John Adams' casting was spot on, IMO. Can't go wrong with all the choices they made. They really made you feel like you were there and when George Washington first made his appearance; I go to admit that I got goosebumps.

Definitely can't wait for the next parts. Loved the music in these eps.

The book was supposed to be excellent, and McCullogh is generally brilliant. His book on the building of the Brooklyn Bridge, The Great Bridge, is one of my favorite books. With the quality cast they have, the movie should be excellent as well.

Just watched the first episode again the other night. Really good; didnt realize how nuanced the performances were until I watched it the second time. Cant wait to watch the second part again tomorrow night (hopefully).

What's interesting about Washington, though, is that in the last couple of years forensic scientists have come to the conclusion that the traditional images we've seen of him in portraits and whatnot may not be at all what he really looked like. They considered that a more romantic portrayal of him than anything else, and through forensics technology they went back and restructured his facial features and body type to a more realistic image. The statues that they ultimately created are very realisitic and look more like a real man than the paintings ever did. There was a really cool special on the History Channel on it a while ago, too. Ill try and dig up a link to the pics later today if I can.
