This night was interesting. I can imagine some people are probably going "what! where's the war?!" But the focus is remaining true to the biographical take. I thought the portrayal of the French court was fair. I'm sure some people look at it and have Franklin's reaction. And others (like myself ) look at it and have Adams's reaction. Interesting.

I think it's more that that the series is about John Adams, not Thomas Jefferson. It will be interesting to see how they handle the Adams/Jefferson conflict that emerged in the early 1800s, given how meager of a character they've established for Jefferson.
Well, in their defense, theyre only two episodes in, and Jefferson played a pretty big part in the second one, writing the Declaration and all.
Yes, but he's very timid and meek. Mind you, that's how he was in real life, but I'm interested to see how they'll portray the conflict. Most any time Jefferson said something important or controversial it was in written form, which is much harder to convey on the screen.

Yeah, I'll be excited to get to more of the Jefferson stuff. I find Jefferson fascinating.

Jefferson couldn't manage money to save his life. Ditto the country's money.

I wasn't to thrilled with last night's show. Granted at the time I was trying to put my 11mth son to sleep and when that finally happened my wife had to constantly yap her mouth! lol
I will have to watch it without distractions tonight if possible.

Things look like they may get more interesting as we move more into Washington's presidency and beyond.

Little know fact... both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day of the same year, July 4th, 1826... 50 years to the day of the Declaration of Independence. Kind of spooky, actually.
I read John Adams last year and remember also reading (can't remember where) that David Mccullough originally intended to write a book about the relationship of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. While he researched the two figures, Mccullough decided that Adams was more interesting and better suited for his own biography, and that is probably why Jefferson is also a promiment figure in this book and miniseries... especially when he and Adams were older and wrote a series of letters back and fourth.
