In the second to last episode "Unnecessary War", Adams and his wife arrived together at the White House when this actually did not happen. According to this Biography of John Adams, he arrived alone and without his wife on November 1, 1800, just before the election, Adams arrived in the new Capital City to take up his residence in the White House. On his second evening in its damp, unfinished rooms, he wrote his wife, "Before I end my letter, I pray Heaven to bestow the best of Blessings on this House and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise Men ever rule under this roof."
So that is one inaccuracy there. Yes, for TV, it looks pretty to have them both go there, but really it didn't happen.

Interesting. Thanks for that.
After seeing the miniseries and reading of these inaccuracies Im now more tempted than ever to pick up the book by McCulloch tomorrow when I go on my tax refund spending spree.

I've read the book, but I don't have HBO.
Worth a DVD purchase?

If you can accept Giammati's performance as John Adams, then yes, it is worth a DVD purchase. Personally, I would rent it as it has limited replay value (unless you like watching the signing of the Declaration of Independence over and over). I would rate this at not necessarily a must have, but definitely a must watch if you disregard a few inaccuracies.

DV: I too am thinking of getting the book. Also he wrote one on Cleopatra that you we might find enjoyable, as we were both avid Rome fans.

It's music composed especially for the show. You can get the soundtrack on Amazon.
They also have shirts and mugs on HBO.com I ordered a shirt yesterday.

As I stated previously, you should definitely rent it and watch it. I don't know if I would buy it since it is probably not too much replayable for more than one viewing. It would be interesting if they continued with the other early presidents. Each of them had a hand in forming our country. They all made mistakes, some more than others, but altogether they were the right person at the time to lead the U.S.

I picked it up and started watching it. I'd seen the first two episodes, and I'm midway through the third one so far. Very good stuff.
