Sunshine was good but what they accomplished with 28 Days Later with what little they were working with is just astonishing. Plus I found 28 Days Later to be far more entertaining.

I'm fond of the 28s too, but there's just something I love about Sunshine. It's my favorite Danny Boyle film, and I'm glad he made it instead of directing 28 Weeks Later.
I'm a sucker for stories that depict an ensemble cast slowly going insane/losing their humanity in an enclosed space, with a hostile environment (space, underwater, frozen, alien planet, etc), all around them.
Also, Sunshine does one of the best jobs I've seen of depicting the enormity of a "one chance to save the entire world" mission, without it seeming cheap/cliche. You really believe that these characters are humanity's only hope and the weight of the world shows on their faces and in their actions in a totally believable way.

I never had any interest in Sunshine. It looked like "The Core" in space.

Not at all. The Core is a mindless, artless summer blockbuster ala Armageddon or Independance Day. Sunshine is a character study and a piece of art set in the middle of a space mission to save the world. The closest comparable movies thematically that I can think of are Sphere, Event Horizon, and Solaris, or even The Thing, but without an emphasis on the horror elements and more an emphasis on the cast and what they're going through.
It's also very arty and stylish in its execution, unlike The Core and similar films.

I'm not really that big into "artsy" films, anyway. It just didn't look interesting to me.

It's not overly "artsy", in my opinion. It's got just the right amount.

No way in hell Weeks is better than Days. Not to say Weeks didn't have it's moments and everything involving Robert Carlyle was gold. The opening scene and endings were great, there was a "we got separated" scene that was actually believable as well as several other memorable moments and Carlyle's performance was incredible as a man who was haunted by leaving someone behind and feeling that guilt though nobody would fault him. But it also had kids, granted they were less annoying than most, but kids nonetheless which is never a good idea in a horror film. The plot was a lame "cure" stereotype and a huge letdown from the original.
Days is better on all fronts. It's not just a great zombie movie, but a truly horrific and excellent film about a great number of themes. 28 Days Later should be watched by anyone who can stand the violence while Weeks is merely good.

28 Weeks Later is to 28 Days Later what Aliens is to Alien.
I friggin' love it. It was a total event film when it came out, at least in my neck of the woods.

I've never seen Aliens (doesn't mean it won't show up in this thread), but that is the analogy I often hear.

I had heard, a long time ago, that Cillian Murphy had a Cameo in 28 Weeks Later, so the whole time I'm watching it, I was waiting for him to show up. I was so disappointed when the credits rolled.
Loved the flick though, but I don't really think it has surpassed the original. It's just different.

What needs to happen in 28 Months Later is the surviving characters from the first film should meet up with survivors from the second film. Tying them would make the first two part of a larger story.

If you trying to cover up a potential spoiler, it didn't work.
I'm glad that Boyle is(or is thinking about)coming back for the next film.
