The2ndQuest posted: The thing about the Scorpion King is that they failed to tell the only story really worth telling about the character- how he fell from a good King to a conqueror and made his pact with Anubis. The first film doesn't do anything about this (though might have some vague justification for showing his rise towards power), and supposedly the sequel they're working on screws up AGAIN and is going further back with a prequel to when he was younger. Terrible, terrible choices, there.
Yeah, pretty much what I said earlier.

It's such a tremendous double-blunder, it was worth reiterating

I haven't seen any of the "Mummy" movies, even though I am a fan of Fraser.

We should make a thread about the movies Zaz hasn't seen and everyone else has. There's alot of them
The 2nd one is vastly superior in all respects, imo. Brendan is actually funny.

Penguinator-176 posted: I liked the first one a bit more, I think, because it still masqueraded a bit as a horror. What I think is truly odd is making a third movie with the original cast sans Rachel Weisz. And then the antagonist is Jet Li. And it's set in China.
That can't be a Mummy movie.
Egypt isn't the only country with mummies.
But when you think mummies, you think Egypt, first and foremost. If Jet Li is playing a Dragon King, then to me it just loses some of the appeal. They've already done the whole "didn't we kill this guy" bit, so I'm dreading the inevitable "he doesn't look so tough" line.
I'd prefer it if the story remained in Egypt.

Well, then Boba, we could also start a thread of movies I've seen and everyone else except the General and perhaps JWD haven't.

I've long been a huge fan of this movie franchise, and I have to say I like the first movie better. The only thing the second one has over the first is Rachel Weisz in the half-naked fight scene

I am a big fan of The Mummy series. I can't wait for the next installation to come out. Yet, nothing will compare to the first, the original. The Mummy Returns has more straightforward, in-your-face action, in my opinion. The Mummy seems a little more tied together.

"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"
"Germany has declared war on the Jones boys." The second Indiana Jones sequel is great, and a vast improvement over TOD. The addition of Sean Connery as Jones Sr. was perfect. The two had great chemistry together.

If you want to consider it better than its immediate predecessor, that's fine. There's no way on this earth that it's better than the original.

Last Crusade was very fun, and Connery made for great chemistry, though I can't help but think the reuse of the Nazi's as bad guys weakened the originality of the flick compared to Temple of Doom.

No, I think it's better than Raiders too.
