Agreed. The original is and always will be the best but I thoroughly enjoyed the DH2, especially the final scene with John and the plane.

24. 'Christmas Vacation'
Long before the folks at National Lampoon adopted its "crap is king" policy, they released this riotously funny third go-round with the Griswold clan that had us squirting eggnog out of our noses. Let's pretend they never made 'Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure.'
Is it a worthy sequel? Yes.
Is it better than the original? On par.

All the installments here are rather similar.

Christmas vacation is by far the best of the series, even though I love all of them. I actually make sure to watch Christmas vacation every Christmas season, like it's a tradition.
Clark's meltdown, after he gets his holiday bonus, is one of the best ever meltdowns ever.
Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny ****ing Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of ******** this side of the nuthouse.

Christmas is the best of the series, by about the size of an outdoor lightbulb over the original, although John Candy's cameo in 1 is still my absolute favorite scene. 2 and 4 are absolutely awful.

A perfect world: a house in the Hamptons with two solaria and a horse named Prickely Pete, Dr. van Nostrand as my primary care physician, the O-OT legally available on DVD in a quality worthy of its greatness and Luke the undisputed hero of Star Wars

There are redeeming qualities for 2 and 4, but yeah they pretty much suck to the original and Christmas.
Randy Quaid was the only thing that makes Vegas Vacation worth watching, and scenes like the one with Eric Idle are the only good parts of European Vacation.

I also agree that this is the best of the series.
National Lampoon is pretty hit and miss these days, but Nat Lampoon Presents: Electric Apricot was pretty cool.

23. The Road Warrior
The term "post-apocalyptic thriller" was born with 'Mad Max,' and its explosive sequel plunged us even further into a world of chaos and greed. Mel Gibson gives a savage, heroic performance as a grieving nomad who fights for a colony he intended to rob ... and no tequila-fueled rant can ever take that away.
I haven't seen any of the Mad Max films.

The mute kid with the boomerang of doom ruled. He would have been an interesting character to bring back into the series( as a young man who has been tamed a bit, gotten some smarts but is still badass.) Wasn't he(the kid) the narrator of the film?

Yes. They did bring back the aviator for the third film.
