I will start a new thread about famous Canadian Actors starting with those ending in "A" and ending with "Z".
So first up is... Dan Aykroyd
Aykroyd, Dan, a great comic actor also known for his interest in the paranormal. Mr. Aykroyd also claims he has webbed toes...
Although his claim to fame came from being an original Saturday Night Live cast member (1975-1979), and starring in the "Blues Brothers" films, Dan Aykroyd was also a Second City TV (SCTV) cast member. SCTV was one of Canada's funniest shows, and was considered to be the springboard for many Canadian comic actors, i.e: Rick Moranis, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin and the late John Candy amongst others.

1) Its Aykroyd not Ackroyd.
2) No mention of his most successful creation?
TO the best of my knowledge Aykroyd wasn't on SCTV. He was part of the Second City troupe that performed out of Chicago and fell in with the National Lampoon guys of the day, which eventually lead to SNL. But SCTV was a show that spawned from the Toronto troupe of Second City players.

When I think of Dan Aykroyd the first thing that comes to mind is Ghostbusters, and I agree with Chancellor_Ewok, great movie.

The problem with Danny boy is that you have to wade through a lot of crap he wrote or acted in to find his good stuff. That said, The Blues Brothers has always been a personal fave of mine
Another little tidbit on him is that he was the first SNL cast member to get an Oscar nomination (BSA for Driving Miss Daisy). Not a big deal but a nice bit of trivia.

Whenever I think of Aykroyd I think of Blues Brothers. One of my favourite comedies of all time.

Aykroyd is a good comedian (esp. as a writer) and an indifferent actor, with the exception of "Driving Miss Daisy" in which he actually created a character (and sported a Deep Southern accent)

Truly Aykroyd is better as a creative force driving a project then someone who is just sort of there. There is no denying his charisma if you watch old episodes of SNL though he gets outdone by Belushi more often than not (and sadly the over-rated Chevy Chase seems to out do him as well). But its when he is influencing a project that things are most interesting. Take for instance the two franchises mentioned in this thread that he seems most memorable for: The Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters. Both are his brain child inspired by his passions and the working relationships he had developed. Both became undeniable successes and are forever ingrained into our culture. He may have been one more underrated cast members to come out of SNL/Second City. Sadly though his career has dwindled and has been reduced to bit roles, failed sitcoms, narrating low-budget X-Files wannabe shows like Sci-Factor and beating the dead horses of his former glory (trying to resurrect both Ghostbusters and Blues Brothers several times). However, I still feel that his successes outweigh his failures and he truly is worth mention among the top Canadian Actors.

I'm sure he doesn't *have* to work...
Of his movies, "Dragnet" doesn't get much attention but is really rather good, in an unpretentious way.

Lol my dad saw him reeming her out at a mall once for parking in a handicapped space. Apparently she thought no one would care if she was just running into the mall quickly.

Pamela Anderson
She was destined to be a star from birth; the first child born on July 1st, 1967, Pamela Denise Anderson's was Canada's "Centennial Baby". This was only the beginning of a long and successful career in the spotlight, as she went from being Labbatt Brewery's "Blue Girl" to Playboy Playmate, to finally becoming a bona fide star with of numerous TV and movie credits to her name. Her ability to rise above sometimes invasive and negative attacks from gossip mongers is nothing short of remarkable.
