RE: Famous Canadian Actors: Now Disc. Conrad Bain
Conrad Bain
He is best remembered as millionaire philanthropist "Mr. Drummond" on TV's Diff'rent Strokes. Other notable appearances Include a hilarious guest spot on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", and several other TV shows such as "The Love Boat", or wait a minute... maybe it was his identical twin bother (yes, he has one). C'mon now Mr. Bain, 'fess up! How could you be Mr. Drummond in so many places... Anyhow, you can catch Mr. Conrad Bain's performance as "Grandpa" in "Postcards From The Edge".
Discuss.

He doesn't strike me as an obvious Albertan type.

I have some DVDs of a late 1940s - 50s anthology TV series called Suspense. Bain is in a couple of episodes. He's early 20s at the oldest. You'd never recognize him but when someone points it out it's unmistakable.

Well to be fair there haven't been that many actors that would be recognizable for a lot of people these days.

i guess it's also to do with them being 'american' rather than distinguishably canadian. not their fault.
i remember having to over and over confirm that dan a(c?)kroyd was canadian. it ain't easy.

Well, if you're going to do famous Canadian actors...I mean, there is famous, and then there is FAMOUS. Bairstow? Bain? How about Jim Carrey? Mike Myers? John Candy? Lorne Greene? Hume Cronyn? William Shatner? Catherine O'Hara? Ellen Page?
Not that there isn't room for the Bairstow's and Bain's of the Canadian world on this list, but as has been demonstrated some people don't have a clue
