I've had a lot of fun with this game, not just normal multiplayer but TD, DotA and many other customized maps. And the single story campaign was great as well.

Too bad I sucked at it, except for maybe DotA tongue

#96 - Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

Platform: GameCube
Developer: Silicon Knights
Publisher: Nintendo
Year Released: 2002
Why it Made the Top 100 List:

Eternal Darkness takes the best parts of other survival horror and adventure games, improves the controls, perfects the sounds, adds a touch of mental instability, and then piles it all on top of an intricate story to form a truly worthwhile gaming experience. This game doesn't fall neatly into any known category, which is a good thing. Imagine a blonde Claire Redfield from Resident Evil taking a quick trip to Silent Hill only to relive the past 2000 years as 12 different people. Now imagine all of that with swords and magic. It sounds strange, but it all fits together seamlessly. -- leviathanj12

Not to mention the game's sanity effects that mess with the player or the character's perceptions.

This game is a classic and an absolute gem that was sadly overlooked. Great story that really made you want to get to the next chapter just to see how it progressed, very creepy environment (not as creepy as Resident Evil GCN, but still effective), neat magic system, nice character variety, epic scope.

I still need to get around to replaying the game with the other 2 colors to get the final ending. Also missed one item part to be able to use the Corpse God's color.

Thankfully SK has said they're liekly to pursue a sequel after they finish up Too Human. I can't wait- hopefully it'll address the apparent plothole revolving around the Desert STorm firefighter possessing the Time when someone else already had it.

Let's hope the sequel isn't on the Wii.

Why? It'd be nice to be able to keep the whole series on the same platform (since ED is GCN, it can play on the Wii). Though SK seems to have fallen into the 360 camp, so it's likely it'll end up there. Though that might depend on how well Too Human does. It seems a few developers that left Nintendo early this generation for the 360 and PS3 have started to come back into the fold, so maybe SK will follow suit for ED and bring it to the Wii. It'd make sense, given that ED was more about story and game mechanics than graphics (though above-par, it didn't exactly push the GCN to it's graphical limit).

I used to rent this a lot when it first came out. I managed to get to the final boss(I think) but I never beat the game. I think I've still got a saved game on one of my memory cards.

What color did you choose? I went with red (enemies damage health), but I the others are supposedly harder (I can imagine how hard the game would be with enemies draining your magic all the time- i certainly used that heal spell damn often...)

#95 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

Platform: Dreamcast, PC, Nintendo 64, PlayStation
Developer: Treyarch
Publisher: Activision
Year Released: 2000
Why it Made the Top 100 List:

Pro Skater 2 is a truly fun experience, an exhilarating skateboarding global ride and a mapmaker to mould your very own skate park and keep you playing. If you still own a PSone and don't have this game, scavenge some local games store to see if you can find it. For about a fiver. -- stevenscott14

I'm very surprised to see Tony Hawk's pro-skater 2 so low on this list. When that came out, it seemed like the only game that friends of mine were playing. I pretty much sucked at it, but it was fun to watch.

This game dominated my life for about a year. First game where I did everything possible in the game legit. Led me to an internet forum I still post at to this day. Best fifty bucks I ever spent.

I'm sure I blow at it now though since the latest iterations have got faster and faster.

Never really played this. Skating and BMX games weren't really big in my circle of friends- closest was snowboarding games.

The only game on this list that i played, so far, was MVP 2005 (which truly was the most fun baseball game of that era. Too bad the MVP series stopped after that.)

I never really got into Fighting games past the 2D generation, and my buddy stole my Gamecube and traded it in before I could play Sanity's Requiem.

I think i'm too old school for Tony Hawk. It's all about 720 baby.

Why would he do such a thing, when he knows you must kill him for it?
