Yeah, were pretty lucky to be able to play the cool stuff in our concerts like Star Wars, Aladdin, and some other stuff. It's pretty cool.

We played PotC several years ago, but I hadn't seen it to know what I was playing. Playing Star Wars would be awesome!

I have a version of the SW music, but it's only for one instrument. Playing it with a group is something totally different.

I have a star wars sheet music book for alto sax. It's pretty cool. I also have a bunch of old music books from my school band days with scales, training exercises and music for my sax, clarinet and flute. They come in handy, especially for keeping the skills sharp and fine tuned.

I played in the HS orchestra for a couple years. But I bailed after the trip to Europe. 
Was it just my school or was there a big difference between the orchestra and band from a social standpoint? If you were in band you were definately known as a 'band person' but the orchestra didn't carry a label. It wasn't a popularity thing, we orchestra folks just seemed to blend better.

My school system was kinda poor, so we only had one band, but my band teacher made the best of it and made little side bands, like our jazz band.

My dad is so bad at understanding music. I've tried several times to get him to understand it a little better, but he always says "I just don't get it". It's not as hard as people think...or is it?

If you are not musical, it is. That said, there are some great computer programs to help with it. They make sounds designed to show you proper pitch, etc. concepts very difficult for the uninitiated.

Well, they design games for those who can't understand music. And he still doesn't quite get it! Yet when an old math teacher tells him that an octave is a difference in frequency, he understands that. Go figure.

I tried violin out years ago, but I couldn't do it. The ext year, I pick up a clarinet and I learn to play it. Now music itself sems so much easier than it used to.
