0219: The One Where Eddie Won’t Go

- Eddie watching Chandler sleep and the subsequent argument is great!
- I LOVE “Be Your Own Windkeeper”!
- “phallic shaped mancakes” – hee
- I’m still not thrilled with Estelle.
- Rachel standing up to Ross is classic: “How do you expect me to grow, if you won’t let me blow?”
- The Joey and Ross argument is very much in character for both of them. I like it.
- Too bad we only got three episodes of Adam Goldberg; he truly did an amazing job.
- Wow; Gunther finally gets actual lines.
- “This is smack dab in the middle of the blue!”
- Joey’s audition: meh…
- “And his puppet too!” – hee
- I appreciate the mention of Paul. Good continuity is never a negative.
- Eddie appearing in the window with a head is genius!
- The reveal of Joey having moved back in is a great moment. A great end to a great arc.

A -

This arc wrapped up really well. I love how easily Chandler convinces Eddie he's a the wrong apartment, using Eddie's insanity to his own advantage. laugh

Joey's remark about the "empowerment book" is typical but classic: "See, this is why I don't date girls who read."

It won't be long before the appearance of the dreaded entertainment center...

0220: The One Where Old Yeller Dies

- I’ve never seen Old Yeller…
- This episode has one of the better Phoebe stories from the early seasons. I like that Phoebe was shielded from pain and sadness by her mother. Until she killed herself.
- Susan and Carol being totally on board with Ross having Ben for a whole weekend is amusing…
- Love Joey and Chandler’s infatuation with Richard and his ways.
- Ross talking about his and Rachel’s future babies as if they’re inevitable is weird, but in character I guess. Especially considering he’s been obsessing about Rachel for the entire first season.
- Of the movies mentioned in this one, I have only watched Alive, Rocky and E.T.
- By the way, I’m pretty sure there are some continuity issues with some of the movies Phoebe mentions not knowing the ending to and her age. I think Phoebe’s mom killed herself when Phoebe was 14, and I’m not sure if that works out with the releasedate of E.T. Also, why did Phoebe only recently learn about the ending to Alive (soccer teams eating each other in the Andes), which came out as late as in 1993?
- Aww, Ross and Rachel love each other!
- “Could that shot BE any prettier?” – hee
- I really like that last scene in Ross’s apartment, Rachel gets really cute when dealing with Ben and I love Ross’ excitement about Ben talking.
- Bert and Ernie!
-Overall a solid episode though nothing extraordinary.

I'm sure I've seen an episode where Teri Garr plays Phoebe's mother...

That's her "birth mother" wink

Terri Garr and Frank and Lily were "close"

I love the Eddie episodes, as well as the Old Yeller one.

But did Phoebe actually mention by this point that she was "orphaned" at 14? Or did she list her age in a later season? I don't remember her ever saying how old she was by this point.

As for "Alive", that's a good point. But I want to say that the story was probably portrayed in a different film/TV movie under a different title & earlier than "Alive".

But the best part of this gag is that she refuses to watch the end of "It's a Wonderful Life" because she's convinced it's just like all the other sad endings. laugh

The Chandler/Joey/Richard interplay is pretty funny too.

I give it a B+
